Favorite OSU Football moment? (Merged)

Germaine to Boston in the Rose Bowl is definitely up there with Holy Buckeye.

My favorite play is when Eddie George out-sprinted the NoD secondary in the Shoe... The picture of that play is awesome with Eddie leaving 7-8 NoD players in the dust. :)

Spending some time talking to Jim Tressel on Maui before the Hula Bowl when he coached. He's a very sincerely nice person in addition to being a fair football coach. I got pictures, autographs, and he pulled me over to introduce me to Hop Cassady; it was a very nice encounter.

I can still close my eyes and recall the emotion's I felt from the Holy Buckeye. I cannot get that from any other Buckeye moment no matter how big it may have been.

As many have said, Holy Buckeye was the defining moment, but not just for 2002. It was the seminal moment in OSU nation history when the poison of Cooper started to be replaced by the calm confidence of Tressel.

Great post Jax.

You have scratched the surface of something there. During 2002, I watched games with SanClementeBuck and the rest of the Orange County/Inland Empire Alumni Club out in California. There were a few loud, obnoxious Tressel detractors until (and during) the Purdue game.

After "Holy Buckeye", those people were obliged to shut the hell up. They haven't been heard from since.

That picture is framed and hangs above the bar in my house. Greatest Photo Ever.

  1. Holy Buckeye
  2. Cie Grant Sacks Dorsey (would be #1 but I was dealing with personal issues at the time that were real mood killers)
  3. Jonathan Wells' run at the Big House in 2001. The realization that Tressel's words 310 days earlier were genuine.
  4. Ray Griffin's INT in '75 I think it was
  5. Tressel's "310 days" speech.
  6. Announcement of Archie's 2nd Heisman (heard about it on the radio back then)
  7. Announcement of Troy's Heisman (not a surprise, but a great moment none the less)
  8. Byars' shoeless 67 yards vs. Illinois (South Stands)
  9. Punt block vs. Michigan in '79
  10. Wooldridge(sp?) run up the middle vs. Iowa in '85 (North end, C deck)
  11. Spielman's tackle for loss of Ronnie Harmon on 4th down in the same game
  12. Bobby Olive's TD catch from Greg Frey vs. LSU in 88 (North end, C deck)
  13. Boston's TD in '97 Rose Bowl
  14. Ted Ginn covers the on-side kick vs. Michigan (this may rise in the future)
  15. Laurinaitis causes fumble, Donald Washington's return vs. Texas
  16. "Terry Glenn is GONE" - me, NoD game, 1995
This list is subject to revision based upon youse guys jogging my memory

Favorite Ohio State Moments (Offseason Youtube Edition)

Since the off season is hella boring, I figured we talk about the past cause it's fun.

Post a youtube vid (if there is one) of some of your favorite moments in Buckeye History (if you wanna do a basketball one that's cool)

Rule #1) It can either be a specific play, drive, or just the entire game. If it's game check out youtube author ourhonordefend and see if they have it (they post the best game highlights there is I think)

Rule #2) Post a small description as to why it's one of your favorites

I'll start with a good one

Why? I was only 13 at the time, and this is roughly the start of me really getting into college football and understand the magical awesomeness that it was. I remember bits and pieces of the 98 season but don't really remember the win over Michigan as I was only 10 at the time, so I didn't know why it was awesome. So this game was the first Michigan win that I understand and became excited about, I remember jumping on my dad's back as we ran around the house celebrating at the end

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TikygJwTs1I"]Ted Ginn Alamo Bowl - YouTube[/ame]

Why? Because we had just lost Troy Smith for the bowl game, and were relying on Teddy's speed to win that game. JT brought one of the best gameplan's to that game. It may not be the biggest win, or the flashiest, but Teddy Ginn showed everyone that night why he was the fastest man in college football in 2004-05.

this game was awesome given the situation. the team and the fans needed a win like this given all the things they'd gone through. i had no voice for a week after this game. incredible.
