The leaves are pretty blah right now. Perhaps in NH and VT it's another story, but not much color here yet.

No that's not it, all of the roads are so enlcosed by trees that it's tough to see large expanses of foliage.

Just my personal opinion.

You can have NE, I'll take the rolling hills of Ohio.

Try the White Mountains (and Kangamangus Highway) in NH during peak season. It's amazing. I-91 through VT is supposed to be great too.

There's no denying that Ohio is also beautiful in the fall. Hocking Hills and the Mohican area are my favorites this time of year.

I get to drive through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park quite a bit, pretty stunning sights there in the Fall as well.

Vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and peanuts is fantastic. Call me simple, but that's my treat on the two or three times a year I eat ice cream at DQ.

As a kid I used to love strawberry cheesecake ice cream from the Dairy Store in my hometown. Little local shop, very basic, that made their own ice cream. We would buy it by the five-gallon bucket and eat it all summer. That joint is long gone out of business, but I can taste that ice cream to this day.

But right now, if I'm buying ice cream for home, it's this:

My choice now is Ritter's (one within a short bike ride from my palce). When I was living in Grove City, I went to Graeter's or Bruster's.

I look at ice cream like I do pizza; even the bad is good sometimes.

Just had Jeni's ice cream for the first time. The wife and I ran to Whole Foods to pick up some things for dinner tonight. I have been hankering for something sweet, so I stopped in the ice cream aisle. I saw a pint labeled The Buckeye State. I had heard about Jeni's however never tried it. I didnt even know you could get it outside of CBUS. We picked up a pint of The Buckeye State and Queen City Cayenne. Absolutely awesome ice cream, however not cheap! 10 bucks a pint seems a bit steep for ice cream.

Jeni's is amazing. A lot of national press in recent years as the best ice cream in America. Definitely try the Root Beer when she chooses to make it. A few places in Chicago have it, but you can also order it overnighted in dry ice.

Graeter's never did anything for me....just overly rich and loaded with buttercream and chocolate slabs to compensate for a lack of complexity and flavor.
