I can see how having to re-make food must completely fuck someone's life, especially when they're getting paid to make food.

 a lot of it depends on the situation, establishment you're working in, and several other factors.

I personally never did anything like that to food. But I will say, the "5 second rule" is very much a real thing

Everyone that works in a restaurant has to bitch about something.

During my 9 years in the restaurant business (waitstaff, chef, management) I found that shutting the cooler door and unleashing a primal scream while beating the Hell out of a side of beef worked for me. That and tons of cigarettes.

I'm a pizza fiend too. However, in my rapidly advancing age I have found myself making them at home rather than ordering-also, no one delivers to where I live. Here's my favorite:

Homemade white whole wheat dough pressed out to 1/4 inch thick-30 minutes at 425.

Take out the dough and then construct the 'za.

First I spread pesto all over the pizza shell

Then I lay down a bed of baby spinach, a can of black olives, and two large tomatoes-diced.

Next I add shredded cheddar (or mozzarella and feta) with grilled chicken.

Slide it off the pizza peel onto my baking stone and it goes in at 375 for 20 more minutes give or take.

It may not be as easy as a frozen pizza, but I think it's worth it. Goes great with a nice Spanish tempranillo.

Pizza dough recipe out of here. Invert a cookie sheet and put a piece of parchment paper on it. Dust paper with light covering of cornmeal. Shape dough and place on sheet. Add sauce, cheese, toppings. Bake at 550 for 8 minutes. Fucking win.

Best pizza I've ever had. The dough is unbelievable. The trick to getting the dough right is to bake it at the highest temperature you can achieve.

I also enjoy pie-making.

God, now I need to buy yet another bread book...Thanks, Bucky.

Last night I made a fine Portuguese whole wheat Broa. It always goes well with soup beans/ham hocks.

*drool*

While my wife was off work after her surgery, she made fresh bread a couple times a week. Spoiled me rotten. Store bread sucks!
