Fantasy Football Advice

QB - Matt Ryan
RB - Demarco Murray
RB - Andre Ellington
WR - Demaryius Thomas
WR - Andre Johnson
WR - Victor Cruz
TE - Kyle Rudolph
Flex - Cordarrelle Patterson
K - Phil Dawson
D - Steelers

BN - Chris Johnson
BN - Bishop Sankey
BN - Carlos Hyde
BN - Tony Romo
BN - Brandin Cooks
BN - Dwayne Bowe
BN - Travis Kelce

Somebody took Calvin Johnson right in front of me for the first round (I picked 10th out of 10). If I had gotten Calvin, I absolutely would have gone Calvin/Demaryius 1/2. Then somebody picked Roddy White right before I panicked and got Victor Cruz in the 5th. I reached for Carlos but I don't care.

That's a solid draft. I think Cooks might sneak in over Cruz though. The #2 passing option in the Saint attack has to be better than the #1 option of the G-men. Seriously, Detroit's front is going to sack Eli at least 4 times.

I absolutely hated taking Cruz.....and in hindsight should've gone with Gerhart there. I don't know why I was in such a shock that Roddy White got taken, he was easily the best player available at that point.

I might even put Cordarrelle in Cruz's spot, and throw Kelce in the Flex.

My 10 teamer from last night:

QB: Matthew Stafford
RB: DeMarco Murray
RB: Alfred Morris
WR: Torrey Smith
WE: Marques Colston
TE: Jimmy Graham
Flex: LeVeon Bell
D: Cincinnati
K: Nick Novak

BN- Ben Rapistburger
BN- Chris Johnson
BN- Kendall Wright
BN- Michael Crabtree
BN- Zach Ertz (TE)
BN- Houston Defense

Admittedly my receivers are journeymen, but they aren't stiffs. Everytime I came to draft I was going to have to overpay for a WR, so I went quality at other positions. I think this team will be competitive, since I have what I would consider 3 top 15 RBs I can run out every week and elites at TE and QB.

I want to use Kelce myself, I have that Ogletree type 25 point Dallas game week 1 feeling. However he's the type of player in week 1 that will either win you your matchup, or net you next to nothing. I dont expect
any middle ground with him.

You had better pray that Jay Gruden doesn't forget that he can actually run the ball. Colston is a solid #3 option. I'm just hoping for your sake he doesn't start off like he did last year, otherwise you're going to have problems.Using Torrey but rocking the Cincy defense is kind of counter-productive week 1. I myself might target Crabtree against Dallas. Bell at the flex is a solid play, and eventually Ertz is going to be in your line up. Aside from Graham, there won't be a TE targeted more in the redzone than Ertz.

So ESPN is telling me Romo is projected to score more than Matt Ryan. How is that possible when Dallas plays a really good SF defense, while Ryan is going to have to sling it all over the field to keep up with New Orleans? Am I nuts?

Don't hate on Cruz... NYG are supposedly moving to a more passing friendly offense. So in a PPR league, he might actually perform rather well.

Romo is going to be throwing the ball about 60 times a game. The Dallas defense is HORRIBLE! So they will be playing from behind alot this season. Plus... SF defense took some hits this offseason and I don't think they will be as great as people think they will be. So Dallas will put up points.

On the flip side Atlanta is going against NO... an underated defense. But that could also be a score fest. Since New Orleans is going to score a bunch too.

Basically it is the 1st week of the season... go with your starters and don't let ESPN or any other generic projection site sway you. The 1st week is not going to kill you if you lose so go with your gut.

interesting note on Cruz. I was just contemplating offering a trade to the guy who missed the draft bc of a death in the family. His entire 7 man bench is RBs. He's got Gio Bernard sitting in the flex spot. I thought about offering Cruz for Bernard straight up. I don't think he'd go for it, tho.
