I'm hearing a lot of pundits whining that TCU shouldn't be above Baylor in the playoff race because Baylor beat TCU head-to-head.
By that logic, since West Virginia beat Baylor, the 'Eers should be in the playoffs.
No fancy graphic, but after Arkansas' win over LSU and Bama's win over MSU, the SEC-W has completed the circle.
Arkansas>LSU>Ole Miss>Alabama>Miss St>TAMU>Auburn>Arkansas
my take is that theyre more upset TCU and Baylor arent splitting the votes allowing bama to be #4. Thus Rece Davis asking Long why TCU and Baylor arent in the same bracket (they order teams in 5 groups of 6 - thus the 'first 2 out' in ESPN graphics)
TCU has been above Baylor since the first comintern poll, and since week 9 in AP and Coaches. Nobody cared until TCU jumped 'Bama this week.
I think the committee considers the head to head a wash since it was only by 3 points and at Baylor. Instead they looked at shared matchups. TCU went to wva and won. Baylor not so much.
Stupid, but apparently this is the system we wanted?
I honestly think that trend will change as long as the playoffs stay at 4 teams.Well there's also the fact that in any given year so few of the top teams play each other.
