After demonizing the mother and the children for being great people after violating the rules, the reporter continues to argue that it is not the rule breakers, but the exposure of them, that is the problem.

If you really want to laugh at this and argue I am all ready.

I don't know how it affects athletic participation, but in my county of Indiana, you can attend whichever of the three county high schools your senior year. Not sure why the rule is in place or what good it serves, but there you go.

I wasn't defending anything. Certainly not those idiots in the article. I was laughing at your ludicrously over-broad generalizations.

Seriously? My overgeneralization of how the South treats sports? Do you want me to give you 100 links to show that there is in fact a difference?

I just gave you the first round. :)

I let you take the focus off of the article and surrounding subject matter and put it on me.

Let's get back to the task at hand: the reporter blamed the mother for outing the behavior, but did not blame the behavior itself. This is pathetic and I am happy to post links showing it is endemic in the South.

Midwestern reporters and citizens condemn the actions that violate rules the SEC region defends
E.J. Greene. Tat-5. Discuss how the two were viewed. From your sweeping generalization there should only be, "They knew what the rules were and deserve everything they get" posts and not a single, "how can it be a violation selling their own stuff?....The NCAA can go to Hell!" comments coming from the Midwest.

This may shock you, but every fan base justifies and excuses the actions of its own players and coaches, and demonizes the actions of the other guys while laughing at the notion there could be mitigating factors or good faith explanations for whatever violations are alleged or found. And every fan base worth a [Mark May] has millions of fans (of which thousands are mouth breathing f*cktards) who will say embarrassing things in defense of their team.

Fan is from fanatic, after all.

I do not laugh at the notion that the football crazy South is filled with homers and lunatics who will defend the bad actions of their team with the intensity of a Moonie. I just find it laughable that you think the Midwest is bereft of people who will give that type of response, and instead is a region filled with Puritan Sages who will condemn their own programs (when the inevitable problem arises) with the kind of ubiquitous, moralistic, Borg-like mentality you insist all Midwesterners possess at birth.

Edit: Or perhaps y'all laughing at the M*ch*g*n fan base's response to Dickrod's ethical problems was my imagination?

Now who is speaking in hyperbole? "Bereft?" I insist all Midwesterners possess at birth ubiquitous and moralistic "Borg-like mentality?"

WTF man?

I just said that there was a difference in the mentality. Jesus.

You said an entire region's reporters and fanbases condemn what an entire region's reporters and fanbases defend. I can't out hyperbole you - and I was trying.

The fans in the SEC certainly take their football more seriously, from what I've seen. Your program is a notable exception. Here, it is more that our lower tier teams and fans take it as seriously as the Bamas and LSU's do. Your Indianas do not seem to give a crap. My brother went to a Penn State Michigan game either last year or the year before, and he said it was calmer and more laid back than any football game in the SEC he'd ever seen, including a Kentucky Vandy game. I have no doubt that the increased passion for the sport leads to greater chuckle headedness by SEC fans and sports writers than exhibited by programs that do not give a [Mark May]. But I would put the passion (and corresponding homerish-ness) of your major programs against the homerishness of ours. ( OK. Not Bama. They are certifiable)

So again, I have little problem saying the South is passionate about football, and that the passion is sometimes demonstrated by the type of idiocy you saw in the article...in certain fans. I have no problems saying we are probably more passionate. We do not have to siphon any of it off to hockey season. :p But y'alls major programs are just as full goose, nut job, bat [Mark May] crazy as we are. Which is why I like tOSU so much. Reminds me of Florida with a longer tradition.
