I admit I don't know a lot about basketball and what to look for in recruits, but his highlights impressed even me.
When a kid jumps like Mickey (essentially like Sam Thompson), that tells me about 75% of everything I need to know. Absolutely unbelievable athlete, as is his older brother. Freakish.

I hope Mickey heals well and gets back to his original form. I admit I don't know a lot about basketball and what to look for in recruits, but his highlights impressed even me.

He has good size, length and athleticism. But basketball is much more than that - you've got to have great skills, smarts and work ethic to be a great one. The highlights show he has some particularly good shot fake and passing skills for a player of his age and position. The one thing highlights don't really show is how a guy plays defense (typically all they show is shotblocking, which is an exciting but small part of playing good D) and defense is a very important aspect of the game. I don't doubt that he will be an outstanding college player as long as he puts in the work and gets healthy.

I hope he takes his time to come back 100%, as college is still a few years away for him.

Since everyone in the Mitchell family seems to be pretty amazing athletes.. can we just make a Family Offer.. and maybe get five Mitchells but only be charged 3 schollies?

I like it. We got a 2-for-1 with the Borens and we all know how that turned out

Mitchell, Hogg crack ESPN 60

Prestonwood Christian Academy junior Mickey Mitchell and Plano West junior D.J. Hogg made the cut for the latest installment of ESPN's top 60 national basketball recruits for the Class of 2015.

Mitchell, a mainstay on this list, checked in at No. 31 overall while Hogg sits at No. 42.

The entry for Mitchell is a bittersweet one after being listed at No. 2 in the nation in the 2012 edition of the rankings, although the drop is more indicative of the 6-foot-6 wing missing his entire sophomore year due to a knee injury sustained while playing football for the Lions.
