Explanation from Steve Snapp on allowing the scUM fight song to be sung on Saturday

He is a trader. He likes USC.

I respect Snapp for at least trying to tell them no, but there was really nothing he could do. Also it was probably a little safer having them up there than somewhere that people could of started chucking shit at them.

He could have said "Absolutely not!!" They approached him about it and he said that if they hadn't done it there they were going to do it somewhere else.

Let them try and do it somewhere else. Maybe they would have gotten a nice beer/soda shower. It's absolute bullshit. It makes Ohio State look stupid.

Like I said, ask Bo Schembechler if they can sing the OSU fight song in the Big House. See if it's "no big deal."

can someone explain when it happened? Did they just pause what they were doing at the anchor desk, and then start singing the song? Did it fit at all?

I could see it if Michigan pulled off the W, and OSU did not, but Michigan looked far worse on the day.

I'm sure it wasn't logical at all, but I'm curious what the timing/scenario was for singing it.

They had a thing on Gameday where Nick Lagay went up to scum to learn how to sing the song. After it was over Lagay and Howard were on top of the shoe and they sang the song again. It fit, but it was a low class move.

Hmm seems weird. I could see it if they were going to UM next week, but you'd think you'd pull that sort of thing after being trounced in your own house... and showing much less offense than the pathetic Pitt squad.

This was by far the worst thing E*$% has ever doen to us. I vote for an all out ban of these bastards. If Holbrook had some balls she wouldn't let E$&# on our campus ever again not even their field reporters to cover any of our games.

I have three thoughts:

1. ESPiN is not our friend. Period.

2. We did nothing wrong and there is no reason why we should be sucking up to ESPiN. It was a mistake to let ESPiN on campus. We should have listened to VLMARTI and others and banned GameDay from the OSU campus.

3. The best answer to this is to go to Ann Arbor and kick the living shit out of TSUN. And then sing our own fight song!

I am continuing to boycott ESPiN. The fact that I have to wade through their putrid site to get to the Buckeye broadcasts sickens me.

Nick Simpson is a Miami grad. I'd expect that kind of pussy move from one of those people. If M*ch*gan is scUM, they're sMUt. :tongue2:

On another note, what would Woody have done to Snapp? Actually, scratch that -- if Woody were roaming the campus, Snapp would have been too damned scared to allow ESPN to pull this stunt.

I'll bet Holebrook watched that and had quite the grin on her face. Knowing it would incite a riot, or at least anger fans, she could then impose more of her puritan horseshit on our gameday atmosphere.

We should waited for Nick and Desmond to come out, and then mobbbed them and picked them both apart like a thanksgiving day turkey.

they segueed into it... first Nick did a taped bit about how LLLoyd hired a voice coach to come in and teach the scUM gridders how to sing their stupid song... then they showed Nick practicing singing (how did he ever get in a music group? his voice is TERRIBLE.) and finally, after the taped bits, Nick and Desmond were standing on top of OHIO Stadium, where they proceeded to desecrate our house...

the only thing that softened the blow was afterwards, Lee Corso said that maybe instead of a voice coach, LLLoyd should be hiring a new coach who could teach them to play defense...

it is clear that Snapp REALLY dropped the ball here... i am of the opinion that this offense is terminable, though i really don't see that happening... but at some level, the point nust be made that if you want to repair the relationship between tOSU and E!spn, you WILL NOT achieve that repair by simply bending over and taking whatever E!spn gives you... allowing someone to violate you does not breed a healthy relationship, but causes loathing and contempt... the University lost respect on a National Stage for what? for those bastards at E!spn to finally be nice to tOSU? yeah right... now E!spn has tOSU right where they want us... tOSU is now E!spn's bitch, as Steve Snapp allowed to be demonstrated by that deplorable act...

i am absolutely appalled by such a blatant show of disrespect... this is clearly a slap in the face and there must be consequences... i'm sorry... i am of the opinion that Snapp's resignation should be immediately called for... this act was inexcuseable, intolerable, and unacceptable... since he had the final say, he should pay the price...

finally, the gauntlet has been thrown... E!spn must pay... this is fucking WAR.

Well said, lv.

The more I think about it the more angry I become. Herbstreit mentioned it on his show on Monday, but didn't dwell on it.

Obviously Snapp thinks it's alright to make Ohio State a national joke.

His ass should be gone. And Holebrook should be right behind him (oh wait, that spot is reserved for espn).

What I don't understand is why Ohio State has to bend over backwards to "restore" thier relationship with ESPN. It was those idiots who wrote and broadcasts a bunch of half assed stories based on hearsay and innuendo, yet we are the ones who half to humble ourselves to improve our relationship? That is some really flawed logic used by Snapp.
