seriously though, plastic has saved us sooo much fuel though by lightweighting cars (which leads to increased performance to make it relevant to this thread). more fossil fuels saved by lightweighting cars than has ever been used in plastic. a true miracle material.

probably the most important invention of mankind since the wheel and the inclined plane.
