Evolution or Creation?

Bob Saccamano

These pretzels are making me thirsty.
I just wanted to hear everyones opinion on this subject. Please keep it a clean debate.

I personally believe in evolution, just by observing other animals and such. It kind of makes more sense, at least in my mind. Just my opinion of course.

But, I know some believe in creation because when you read the 1st verse of Genesis it says:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

I'm not religious at all, but my cousin showed me this. I know neither can be proven at this time, but I thought we could have an interesting debate on it. Which do you believe in, and why?

Or rather the scientific method or not.

I like how you phrased the question as there are a lot of other reasons than just religion to reject the scientific method. For example, post-modern philosophy denies the ability of the self to discern the other and it denies the existence of knowledge, yet alone our ability to discover it. Both of these assumptions are necessary for the scientific method to say anything meaningful or useful.

However, as the original question was phrased, it really is as Taos simplified it, science v. religion; which can, but does not have to be opposed to each other....remember, Theology is classically considered a science.

The only thing I truly believe is that the Earth was not created in 7 days.

So we agree on this, as God created the Earth in six days....he rested on the seventh.
Even more technically, you could say he created it in two as the other days have to do with the cosmos and life.

Evolutionists have fossils, they win. End of debate.

Uh......creationists have fossils as well, merely a different interpretation of them.

I don't really want to get into this again since I have done it extensively on the other evolution thread, but it is not a matter of facts pointing to one theory and not another. The interpreation of facts is what really matters, which of course is determined by the metanarrative you subscribe to.

Where and how did the universe originate?

For those of you who don't believe in Creationism, how do you think the Universe came to be?

What is out in space beyond our known universe?

If our Universe is only so many billions of years old, what existed in that space previously?
