I have to give credit to the Russians. They played some exceptional counter-attacking football today, and could have just as easily won this one by three or four goals.

If they play like this against the Netherlands it will be a great match.

All these match ups are pretty intriguing, but Portugal v. Germany has to be the headliner; this is a set up for a classic. C. Ronaldo and the quick Portugese against the solid mid and back four of the Germans.

Spain v. Italy will be good because Italy seems to have slow starts, but the convincing win over France is enough to give them confidence; but who can count out these Spainards, as they have all 9 possible points, and even won today with 10 line up changes.

Netherlands v. Russia seems like it can have the appeal for a great match, but at the same time it would not surprise me if the Dutch run away with this either. The Big Orange have played so well in this tournament they can dominate; but if the Russians can bring back the will they played with today, the quick counter attack they possesed may work again.

Croatia v. Turkey should be entertaining as Turkey has really brought the late game magic recently, but Croatia has played well so far and both teams need to capitalize on mistakes as this game has the possibility of being a one goal difference of who plays on, and who falls short.

Portugal all the way....

I still am sticking to my initial guess that Portugal will win it all. Germany will be a tough match, but with Torsten Frings and Lukas Poldolski having fitness issues, I see another man of the match performance from my Man Utd. favorite, Christano Ronaldo. Portugal 2-1 winners.

Portugal vs. Germany. Should be a very exciting matchup. I see this being a pretty physical match. I think the presence up front for Portugal (with C. Ronaldo) being too much for the Germans in the end. I'm going with my favorite to win this game and in semi's to win the Euro against Spain.

Well, right now that score line is reversed, with Germany enjoying the 2-1 advantage as we approach the half. I don't really have a preference in this one, and am glad that Portugal has made a match of it by putting one in the net.

I really haven't paid too much attention to Portugal so far in this touranment, but their keeper is a glaring weakness, and their marking was horrible on that second German goal. I see the Germans scoring another goal before this match is over, so Portugal will likely have to really turn it on to keep pace.

Portugal's goal keeper, Ricardo was the main reason Germany won their QF against Portugal. However, it was a very entertaining game and the Germans should feel well placed to reach another Euro final, as they play the winner of Turkey v Croatia. I am not sold on Croatia, even though they beat Germany in the earlier round.

Well, I had just sat down from work to watch the game, and was about to post the following comment, but I was called into work and missed all four goals. My friend told me that the Germans won 3-1, and in the brief 10-15 minutes I saw, it seemed that Germany had the upper hand. Hopefully I can catch some highlights. But this is what I was going to post:

Watching this game it is impossible not to recognize the size difference the Germans have on the Portugese.

It's like a fat kid with a bag of crayons, to a little asian child with a diploma.

Good, entertaining game. That 1st goal was amazing. 4 to 5 quick touches to set up a great pass to a cutting attacker. The other two German goals were due to the height differential and lazy D by Portugal. Portugal had their chances to get back in the game, but they always went for one pass too many and blew their chances. Germans should make the final, their side of the bracket is weak compared to NED, SPA, and ITA on the other side. I would put my money on Holland, but it's a three way race to the finals.
