ESPN's Training Days- The Ohio State University

After that opening speech by Meyer @ the intro of yesterday's show, I would have suited up and ran through a wall for that dude if he asked me to. I would have loved to play for a coach like that when I was in school. One who is passionate, hungry, angry and willing to do whatever it takes to win......gotta love it.

I also love the competitive atmosphere he has instilled within the program. I am a Tressell guy just as much as the next guy but the "business as usual" approach, cliche answers and lack of intensity and passion that transpired onto the football field on Saturday's was getting old. I don't need the rah, rah, rah stuff but a little fire and passion from some of these guys would have been nice to see the past few years.

I can see how it would rub some the wrong way, especially for those who are on the losing end of the stick. And I can see the potential for more kids to leave the program b/c of the vast amount of talent he is bringing in w/ only 11 seeing the field on each side of the ball @ one time. I hate to see kids leave but usually its for the best for both parties when a kid decides to depart the program. And I do love how his philosophy helps seperate the men from the boys and you find out really quickly who is going to go to war w/ you and who you can count on Saturday afternoons. Can't wait to see how it translates onto the field. These guys have so much more than a Bowl Game they can't play in to play for this year.

Loved the 1st two episodes by the way.

GO BUCKS!!!!

I think Tressel was a lot more fired up and passionate behind the public view than you think....

The exchange I found interesting from yesterday's show was between Meyer and - I believe - Philly Brown. Meyer was telling him he was looking for him to become the kind of player he liked to coach and that he wasn't there yet (Meyer also included a couple of specifics as to why).

I thought that was a wonderful way to state expectations. It is also a wonderful sentiment to send out to future prospects.

Never got to see a comparable program under JT, but I did get to go to a few of his practices before they were mostly closed. This seems so much more energized.

If what we are seeing is choreographed for TV they are doing one heck of a job.

I'm not sure it is possible to choreograph Coombs and Vrabel. Really enjoying the show.

From yesterday's episode:

Coach Herman: It's a simple game, made complicated by dumb men.
Guiton: So you're saying I'm dumb?
Coach Herman: No, I'm saying I'm dumb.

When Herman said that I laughed thinking for a moment that he was talking about the previous OC. Somewhere in the back of his mind he might have been.
