Beano Cook may have an argument about the #3 spot due too our offensive challenges (which will be fixed soon) but NEVER on the Big Tens competitiveness. Year in and year out the Big Ten always does well when the final polls come out and thats all that matter. The Big Ten just isn't FLASHY enough for some of the less knowledgeable and creative "analysts". Yet again though the final polls will prove his ignorance and the Big Ten will be on top of the polls ...

While I agree they have not been tested I would put Purdue above OSU right now! OSU is ranked ahead of Purdue on reputation alone. Just because Georgia is one of the top ranked teams now does not mean they deserve it.

As for schedules ND fans have earned the right to dog most anyones schedule!LOL!!
Ohio State has played three pretty solid competitive teams (Cinncinati, Marshal,
and NCst.) and Purdue has played Syracuse (ok but not great team it seems this year) and Ball State . I mean comon that was just an ignorant statement !!!

"As for schedules ND fans have earned the right to dog most anyones schedule!LOL!![/QUOTE]" .....
After you get a few more winning seasons to be proud of I'd hold off on that thought ... don't ya think ??

How Do I know they'll take away the bombs???? EASY there recievers aren't fast enough to keep up with our DB's. For one Fox (who'll be back by that game) runs a 4.3, and how about EJ Underwood oh he only runs a 4.2! If you was somewhat of an Ohio State fan you'd realize that watching these games over the years we don't give up big passing plays. All OSU fans out there, how many times have you seen our DB's Get burnt deep? I think the last time OSU gave up a big play was to Rosco Parris in the Fiesta Bowl on a 30 yard crossing route. Purdue lives and Dies on the Big play, and I don't see it happening against OSU. Now I'm not saying OSU will win because they are a very good team, and its in their place but at this time I would take OSU's Chances on taking down a top ranked team over Purdue any day of the week. With OSU not allowing anything deep WHICH I PROMISE THEY WILL. For one they won't have the time to go deep with the pressure we'll bring, and of course the speed factor comes into play as well. Because of there inability to go deep (which any team we face will tell you ) they're forced to do that short dink and dunk crap which oh it will work all the way till they get to the 20 yard line, but where do they go when the room down inside the 20 is limited? Thats what OSU's Defense is so good at. They Stiffen inside the 20 because teams can simply not run consistenly, nor do they have the room anymore to run there simple short pass routes. I've watched enough ND football to understand that they have a good defense, and a offense much like ours. However I don't know much to talk what they should be ranked and who should be ahead of who. So until you really watch a buckeye game and understand how we play and what we're good at don't comment on who's better than who.

You guys are missing the point here. NotreDameChef is setting up his domers. If they beat Purdue, then in his universe he can justify saying ND is No. 3 in the country. And if Purdue pounds ND, then he can say, "We lost to one of the best teams, we play a brutal schedule, yada yada..." It's a no lose situation. Typical domer.

Buckeye rankings and no big plays

In the last two years OSU has ended the season higher ranked than they began. That says that we are consistently ranked lower at the start of the season than we should be. Our ranking is in no way based on image unless you say that we are slighted in the national media because of a bias towards flashy offense.

As for no long plays, I seem to remember a long play against Wisky that went against us…:(

Doesn't Matter

Who cares about this 3rd game hype?

The wins and losses will sort everything out. I doubt Tressel wastes his time on what Beano thinks about who is #3.

If OSU loses to (OMG) Northwestern in 10 days, it ain't gonna matter.

Gamble got doused in gasoline and lit on fire by Lee Evans at Wisconsin last year.:wink2: Oh yeah and he got burned by the scUMers a couple times too.

However your point is taken ... Lee Evans and Edwards are much better than Purdues wide outs and our secondary is better than it was last year. How much did Purdue score on us last year? Was it like 6 or 9 or 10 or something?

haha very true Sdgobucks I actually forgot about that time at wisky! However it was only ONE time! haha and yes Gamble did get burnt on that out and up that Evans ran. Big time recievers will get their grabs and there's just nothing you can do about it. As for the Michigan game, It got called back so we don't have count that ! I do agree with you, that I mean look at last years score? what was it 13-10? and they scored a TD on a running play. I believe that Kyle Orton got better but its kinda hard to improve so much when you're already that good so I don't see Kyle doing anything that he couldn't of done last year. Especially since they had better wide outs last year. Now I see this being a tight ball game but in no way do I see a shoot out between the two of us. It'll be much like last year with Purdue do'n decent on the short pass and mixing some draws in there.

I do like the new name of 'NotreDameChef'. I'm not sure that he's way off concerning our offense, but I believe it will get better as some others get a chance to prove themselves (Pittman hopefully).

Purdue appears to have a very good offense this season, but they'll have to prove it against a good defense (no not ND either). Their defense will also have to prove it against a good offense(no not ours).

On a side note , Beano was on Colins' show a couple of weeks ago and Colin was talking about his favorite bands like U2, etc.... then he said to Beano, what's your favorite band? Beano said "Ohio State"!!

Every team in the country has looked vulnerable this year. The question is: who's going to put it together? Should we give WVU their spot now? Or after they beat BC? Right now--they've probably got the BEST shot at running the table, as sad as all of this is.
Let's just hope that two other teams can run the table or WVU loses, so the nation doesn't have to hang its collective head as the couch burners go to the NC game.
It's going to come down to which teams can make the adjustment. Who can improve where their mistakes are or coach their way past their mistakes?
Can Greene wake up the Georgia offense? Will Gore stay healthy and minimize the Berlin effect? Can Jim Tressel get us out from the rock and a hard place of Zwick's mistakes and Lydell's tunnel vision? Can Jason White find that magic form again, and will that defense hold up with its apparent weaknesses? It's still very much a crapshoot; we could very well be in for another interesting finish. I'll give the BCS this: it always keeps it exciting.

Well the took strength of schedule out of the fucking equation...this is a damn mess. I'm getting this feeling a few teams might go undefeated and all hells gonna break lose. I will lose my mind if the Buckeyes go undefeated and don't getb a shot at the NC.

I'll take our defense over any team in the nation combined (offense + defense) I'll also take our coach over any other coach in the nation! remember in 2002 we didn't really have much of an offense then either heck we almost lost to cincy but when the smoked cleared and the dust settled who came out number one nough said!!!!!!!!!!! Don't worry even if our offense doesn't start clicking together just remember this team is built around the best defensive players in the country this team is good enough to go the distance and lets not forget we got the best damn kicker in the nation
Nuge for heisman!!!!!!!!!!! I believe he's one of the best and finest player in the nation

We should all appreciate that we got such a special player last week against ncstate he was in a very hostile environment but came through something I think any other kicker in the nation would of screwed up but not nuge!!!!!!!

Happy- Get a clue! ND IS 2-1 and beat big bad Michigan and is still not ranked!

So what is your point?

Bottom line fact! If USC or OKL ,FSU or MIAMI had played OSU schedule and won like OSU has you all would be saying they are not a top 10 team and they suck! Heck many of you have already said that Miami and FSU are not at all impressive!
NDChump,
Michigan is ranked..what 17 or 18. How can that be big, bad Michigan? And you lost to a mighty BYU team who lost to USC and the mighty Stanford the following weeks. So what is your point? It is good that you start hyping up Purdue because you will get your asses handed to u by the boilermakers..because they are a good team and they will prove that you game against UM is a fluke. Bottom line ND sucks! Go ahead..beat Navy, Pittsburgh..and we will rank you in the top 10.
