With the way your offense has played do you really think OSU should be in the top 3??

Our game-by-game points scored and total offense:

Game 1: 27 points (462 yards)
Game 2: 24 points (403 yards)
Game 3: 22 points (137 yards)

We're averaging over 24 points a game. Although we only had 137 yards against NCSU, keep in mind that we played on a much shorter field due to all the NCSU turnovers (hey, I'll take a 3-yard TD drive over a 60+ yard non-scoring drive any day). And despite the low yardage output for that game, our offense is still averaging over 340 yards a game, which is much better than it was at the same point of the season last year.

Who do you put at #3, Domer Homer? Georgia's offense was less effective against Marshall than ours was (as Mili's numbers show, we were very productive).

Texas? One blowout against the Sisters of Nobody, and a struggle with Arkansas that could easily have gone the other way.

No way that you can consider Miami to be an offensive juggernaut after their performance against FSU. One drive does not a season make.

IMO, you can make a case for anyone from 3-6, and you can put our schedule against any of them.

And are you Domer? dUMb Lite won't win more than 4 games all year, and BYU probably won't either. Navy? Stanford? Everyone plays some weaker teams, even the mighty Irish and the mighty ACC. We've played a couple of decent teams, no one spectacular, but our toughest games are upcoming. Who else does Miami play? Louisiana Tech? Houston? North Carolina? Does that sound intimidating to you? Everyone has some weaker games...and Miami is in a string of them now. I'm not impressed with thier schedule anymore than anyone else's.

87 WOW! Dont recognize you on this board but I will forever recognize you as an ASS!
NDChef, how clever you are.

Most members of this board would agree OSU is not a top 3 team right now and it would be because of the offense!
Here are some offensive numbers for you.

ESPN/USA Today
3) Georgia (3-0) 27 ppg / 386.7 ypg
(Beat Ga. Southern 48-28, South Car. 20-16, Marshall 13-3)

4) Miami (2-0) 32 ppg / 357.5 ypg
(Beat FSU 16-10, La. Tech 48-0)

5) Texas (2-0) 43.5 ppg / 541 ypg
(Beat N. Texas 65-0, Ark 22-20)

6) Ohio St (3-0) 24.3 ppg / 334 ypg
(Beat Cin 27-6, Marshall 24-21, NCSt 22-14)

Go ahead and tell us which of these teams CLEARLY is the Number 3 team right now. I guess if you are wowed by pasting teams like La. Tech and North Texas (who also lost to Fla. Atlantic), then Texas or Miami is your team.

Buck87 - you should maybe make a few posts before coming out with the insults. NDChief has his obvious flaws, but he didn't say anything inflammatory. This issue is a concern for many Buckeye fans, and I, for one, am concerned over having an ineffective running attack combined with an inexperienced QB. As far as Beano's comments go, he is an idiot, but after the last couple of weeks, it is pretty hard to argue that the B10 is a powerhouse conference. Hopefully things will turn around, but scUM's loss to ND and near-miss against SD State, combined with ASU pasting Iowa, makes the Big 10 look bad.
FKA,

I agree, offense is a concern.
I never argued that the Big Ten is or isn't a powerhouse conference. In fact, at this point, I don't see how that is relevant to ranking because the conference schedule has not started.
The problem I have is NDChef is making the statement that OSU clearly is not the No. 3 team because of their offense. Yet if he took the time to look at: 1) The stats 2) The competition and 3) The other possible number 3's, none of these teams stand out as superior to all the others. I see very little difference between Georgia and tOSU right now.
How many posts do I need to make before I can insult a domer?:wink2:

While I agree they have not been tested I would put Purdue above OSU right now! OSU is ranked ahead of Purdue on reputation alone. Just because Georgia is one of the top ranked teams now does not mean they deserve it.

As for schedules ND fans have earned the right to dog most anyones schedule!LOL!!

Notre Dame you're not really putting any of these observations with any logic? come on you say Ohio State hasn't played anyone ok fine you want to say that, its your opinion but then you come out and say purdue is better? Come on man they played a HORRIBLE Syracuse team, and then Ball State? You've got to realize that Ohio State and Michigan for that matter have much more speed and if they put up the points they put up against Ball State against OSU I'll officially pronounce you a genious. First off how many times have you watch highlights of Purdue and they're scoring from 50 yards out on bombs? I've seen it alot probably 4-5 times they've scored on HUGE plays. OSU will not only take limit that they'll take it AWAY. I promise you they won't hit anything like that. OSU's mark is keep everything infront of them, and needless to say it works. the longest play I think was 41 yards on a damn run play. Any how you're picking Purdue basically because they score alot of points on teams that shouldn't even be Division 1.

Thers is a big difference between MIAMI- FSU and NCS-OSU! You are really not bragging about your schedule are you??

Yes. Cincy, Marshall and NCSU average out to better than FSU + LA Tech. :) FSU could be a big win. Of course, they might also finish fourth or fifth in the ACC.

Got anything for me on Georgia? Texas?

And how do you know that OSU will take away the bombs?? YOU DONT!

Yeah I know that Purdue has not played anyone but I sure as heck am gonna respect a senior QB in Tillers system who is has the top rated QB in the country.

This statement from a Notre Dame fan? That is freakin' hilarious!

If you want to rank teams on how they win and not actually the amount of times they win, then so be it. We OSU fans lose that debate everytime. We will relish in the fact that we win ugly (oxymoron?) way more often than most teams lose.

Happy- Get a clue! ND IS 2-1 and beat big bad Michigan and is still not ranked!

So what is your point?

Bottom line fact! If USC or OKL ,FSU or MIAMI had played OSU schedule and won like OSU has you all would be saying they are not a top 10 team and they suck! Heck many of you have already said that Miami and FSU are not at all impressive!

If I have to explain my point to you about a team receiving points based on reputation, than I would have to ask you how long have you been a college football fan. And specifically, a Notre Dame football fan.

Bottom line fact!!(two exclamation points how about that?) Teams that win more often than other teams should be ranked higher regardless of how they look. Being an OSU fan, I have learned in the last 2 plus years not to judge a team by appearance, but by how often they win. Out of the teams being considered for the number 3 (maybe 2?) spot, please show me one has one more often (in a BCS conferance) in the last 2 plus years. Do that, and I will agree with you that THAT team should be ranked 2/3rd.
