ESPN College GameDay Crew Avoids Picking Ohio State to Win CFP National Championship, Desmond Howard Chooses Oregon to Win Big Ten Title

Howard has enjoyed antagonizing Ohio State fans from the GameDay desk for a long time. However, he has especially relished in doing so since last season after labeling Ryan Day "thin-skinned," claiming the Buckeyes had "no excuses" heading into the Michigan game last year in wake of Connor Stalions' dismissal and blasting the Big Ten's handling of the scandals surrounding U-M football.

Just sayin': To no ones surprise, Howard is still and asshole.....:roll1:

Nick Saban calls out Desmond Howard for never picking Ohio State

On the first episode of College Gameday, Nick Saban called out Desmond Howard for never picking Ohio State.

College Football is back. This is the first weekend that games are back and the Ohio State football team is ready to win a national championship. While they don't play this week, they will play next week in Week 1 to start their long journey to a national title.

This weekend is also the first weekend that College Gameday is on the air. While Lee Corso was not on set for this first episode, he will be back for Week 1. Nick Saban took his spot on set. Saban actually called out Desmond Howard for doing something he's been doing for years.

While everyone was going around talking about who was going to win each conference. When the Big Ten came up, Howard made his pick for the winner and it wasn't Ohio State. He actually picked Oregon to win the conference. That's when Saban pounced on him.

Nick Saban calls out Desmond Howard for never picking Ohio State for anything

After Howard picked the Ducks, Saban said, "You can never pick Ohio State, can you?". Howard then went on to say that it was like giving someone the benefit of the doubt when they don't deserve it. Howard went on to double down on his Oregon pick and picked them to win the national championship.

I have no issue with him picking Oregon to win it all. They are a great team and it's a reasonable pick. But Howard has a track record of never picking Ohio State for anything. Saban called him out on that and it was funny to see him do that right off the bat.

Ohio State football: Legendary coach gives his approval of Ryan Day

The best college football coach of all time gives Ryan Day his seal of approval for what he's done with the Ohio State football program.
The Ohio State football program has a lot at stake this year. They need to win big this year with the roster that they have. It is one of the most talented rosters in college football. After losing three straight games to Michigan, Ryan Day is under a lot of scrutiny.

Ohio State football fans are at their wits' end in that regard. Day only has one win against Michigan and it was with Urban Meyer's players back in 2019. Since then, he's gone 0-3 and has lost a chance to play for a Big Ten Championship in each of those matchups.

Despite the struggles in recent years, one prominent coach has Day's back. He's the best coach of all time, so when he talks, people listen. That coach is Nick Saban. Saban recently retired and is now working for ESPN. He recently gave Day a vote of confidence.

Nick Saban likes what Ryan Day has done with the Ohio State football program

Take a look at the clip below from the Pat McAfee show in which Saban praises what Day has done. Beware, McAfee does curse so it's NSFW.

When it comes to winning, Saban knows what he's talking about. He won seven national championships over the years, including one against Day. If anyone knows what it takes to build a winning program, it's Nick Saban. His praise certainly means something.

Having coached at Ohio State and Michigan State, you know that he has to hate those SOBs somewhere deep inside. :fryingpan:
