Ed Werder out at ESPN after 26 years in stunning development

Ed Werder is out at ESPN — again.

Werder announced the end of his 26-year run with the Worldwide Leader with an X post Thursday, with the tone indicating it was not a mutual decision.

The network previously laid him off in 2017 before he returned in 2019.

“For 26 years, I’ve had the privilege of reporting on the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys while holding an ESPN microphone,” Werder wrote. “But that time is coming to an end. I will immediately begin considering other opportunities to continue my work covering the NFL.

“My ESPN career was highlighted by being assigned to cover 20 consecutive Super Bowls and included having my contributions honored at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”

So the latest from the geniuses in Bristol is to erase Sam Ponder and RGIII, who were both at least moderately popular, due to "budget cuts"...but then, they still have to pay them the rest of their contracts for NOT working (big savings) and then they pick Mike Greenberg, the most annoying and arrogant twatwaffle this side of SAS, to take over Sunday Countdown (and turn it into J-E-T-S Countdown, undoubtedly). You just can't understand how they could possibly be hemorrhaging money...

My company did the same thing. Around December 1 last year, a guy who had been here for a million years says, "I'm retiring effective Jan 15." A manager who doesn't normally work in this office came in the next day and fired him, but agreed to pay him through January 15.

Why not just keep him until the time you're done paying him?

Is this the People to Punch thread. I can't stand that bitch of a man.
I learned the term milquetoast around the time I would listen to him and Golic on ESPN radio. If there ever was a "there's a picture of him in the dictionary" for a person/word.....it's Greeny and milquetoast.
