ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Yesterday, during the Michigan/Florida softball game (our ops center TV is always on news or sports) they compared the Florida Lauren Haeger pitcher to Babe Ruth because "they are the only two players at any level of baseball or softball to have 70 wins as a pitcher and 70 HRs as a hitter in their career". Seriously. They fucking actually compared some fat chick college softball pitcher to Babe Ruth.

The Babe was better looking:

60' 6" vs 43 feet - 95 MPH vs 70 MPH. Plus the BB pitcher has to have his foot on the rubber, softball pitcher is no where near the rubber when she releases - however - I wouldn't want to get hit by either - kinda of like getting hit by a 30.06 round which leaves a small entry but goes through you, or hit by a big ol' .45 round which is slower, but knocks you on your ass and leaves a lot of damage inside.

"Major League Baseball stars would often take their hacks at Eddie Feigner when he was in town for an exhibition. On one memorable day in 1967, a talented row of All-Stars that included Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Maury Wills, Harmon Killebrew, and Roberto Clemente assembled to face the softball star. Feigner struck out all six of them. The big leaguers scarcely hit a foul ball off The King's pitches. More importantly to Feigner, the baseball stars at the time were making about $100,000 a year, and that was about what his barnstorming team was bringing in each month."

Ah but Eddie was a guy. Of course he struck out some of those guys. Put a girl out there and see what happens. Meet Jennie Finch:https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=MLB batters vs a women's fast ball pitcher&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-002

Also she looks like she probably could be ALL-SEC for the Gators football team at center.

Which would be an upgrade, as she probably would be smart enough to not block her own teammate:

my daughter is a catcher. when the pitcher releases the ball she is closer to 40 feet. I think I read somewhere once that a 55mph softball at that distance was the equal reaction time for a hitter as a 90mph fast ball for baseball. It was also pointed out that girls routinely see 55 on up from the age of 12 if they play high level travel ball, which my daughter does. as a catcher she had to move, react and block something that her male counterparts won't see, in terms of time to react to it, until they are 16 or 17. So, everyone can make fun of the Florida pitchers because she's large or unattractive. But i'm willing to bet she's tougher than most of your sons. just. my .02

Anyone else bothered how in Softball many times the same pitcher keeps playing game after game? If a team has one great/dominant pitcher then they normally go deep in the post season and to me that's a joke.

Not too different from the Diamondbacks riding Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling, or the Red Sox with Pedro and Derek Lowe, or the Cardinals with Carpenter and Wainright.

If Randy Johnson could've preserved his shoulder and elbow by throwing underhand he'd have started 175 games a season.
