ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

The chances of anything involving Olberman going sideways? No, no chance at all that he would ever infuse his despicable world view into his sports commentary. None at all.
I'm no ESPiN or Olberman defender... but.. that said... the guy did once already work for the mothership and I truly don't recall him ever saying "Gretsky puts the biscuit in the basket, VOTE FOR CLINTON!" or words to that effect.

The Vandy/Ole Miss game was particularly painful to listen to, thanks to ESPN and the duo of Matt Millen and Joe Tessitore.

1. Millen is the best "shoulda, woulda" guy in the biz. That play shoulda gone to the weak side. That pass shoulda been to the far side. Every comment is what the team should have done, instead of what it is doing or should do.

2. Millen, predictably, developed an unhealthy love for a WR, this time Treadwell. Treadwell had a fine game from the slot, but Millen wanted to draft first pick in the draft.

3. ESPN continually pimping recruiting rankings and focusing on freshman, while forgetting about the other 9-10 guys on the field.

4. I feel like Joe Tessitore would be more effective doing the play by play at a funeral than a football game. He sounds like he's compassionately reading obituaries.

My thoughts exactly. Recruiting is becoming bigger then the games themselves. 5 years ago you wouldn't hear a thing about where classes were ranked during a game. Now it's a main talking point. Kind of annoying. And it wasn't just Treadwell and Nkdemiche. They kept referring to one of the Vandy players as "two star".

This. And referring to Clowney as the presumptive #1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft...before the college season begins. :roll1:

Well, he pretty much is. Not sure I see the issue there. Even if he has a "disappointing" season from a statistical standpoint, he's a physical freak. He'll light up the combine, and his measurables will be hard to ignore. Plus, like somebody else pointed out in the Clowney thread, whether he's annihilating people or not, offenses are going to gameplan around him all season. That, in and of itself, is setting him up for a disappointing season statistically.

I hate they hype as much as anybody else, but I can't take issue with that statement. Nor can I take issue with Clowney's physical abilities. His occasional lack of effort, I can take issue with, and I think that keeps him from being a "sure thing" in the NFL after he's drafted...

What was up with calling the Commodores the Doors all night long? I guess I hadn't heard that before myself.....

Might as well take a pill and get used to it. Secpn is going to do everything they can to make the top recruits feel like they belong at an SEC school. Then they will spend all day talking about the recruits that went to SEC schools from the previous cycle. There are a ton of things that secpn should be forced to eat a bag o dicks for but that HS kickoff weekend they had was by far and away the the most self aggrandizing, agenda pushing, SEC love fest I have ever witnessed on the mothership. I usually prefer to watch the tube on mute and listen to a Buckeye radio broadcast of the game but I really want to hear if our recruiting will get anywhere the attention that the SEC schools have. I wonder if SECPN's NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF RECRUITING will have time to make an appearance.
