ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

ESPN is so transparent that it's just not worth watching anymore.

Seriously, I watch many of the 30-30 documentaries but as far as actual espin programming, it's just not good anymore.

Now, I'm probably not in their demographic anymore and I was spoiled by watching espin from its infancy, but it's more like MTV now. Stupid, argument based shows and agenda driven "news" and highlight shows just aren't for me.

I'll watch the games as I'm not going to let my disdain for them deprive me of watching the games I enjoy, but anything other than that I just don't watch.

I never thought I'd live to see the day where I didn't watch Gameday, but even that has become unwatchable for me.

I watched a bit of Gameday for the first time yesterday and it was so bad that it bordered on pathetic. The run up to the discussion of the ND vs. Choklahoma game by Fowler was just pure trash. Then Corso shooting the rifle and Kirk ducking for cover.like a little girl was moronic at best.

Add to this the fact that they wouldn't show the score of our game in the no. 8 ranked slot on the bottom line and you just have a network that is totally petty. As I said in the game thread I don't know how Spielman doesn't.clock Sean McAsswipe when announcing.

Like you I will not let them dissuade me from watching games I want to see when they are showing them.

As was said before, they're using the BCS rankings now that they're out instead of the AP rankings they were using prior to that. That's why they're not showing us as ranked anymore...

Before the internet proliferated, especially with video, ESPN was great (in other words early to late 90's). Yet now I no longer need to watch ESPN to get highlights from games. I can watch highlights from pretty much any game anytime I want on my computer (which I have a home theater PC so I can watch it on my big screen). I simply no longer need ESPN outside of live games. I do DVR 30 for 30 though.

It really is like MTV. ESPN News channel is what pisses me off. It used to be 30 minutes to see the important games and highlights. Short, quick, and simple. Just the way I like it. Now they have other programming that really shouldn't be on there.

I forget which ESPN channel I stopped on last night for about 10 seconds. It was during halftime of the ND game. That little simpleton McDoucheShay was talking and basically slobbing all over ND about strength of schedule, blah, blah, blah. Then Robert Smith decided to bring a little intelligence to bear. He asked McDoucheShay, so far this year, which victory would be considered ND's biggest victory. And at that point McDoucheShay knew he was out of his league...that Robert had him nailed...and it was fucking awesome watching him squirm. The consensus was that the win over scUM was the signature win up to that point in time, which Robert said, "And that really isn't that big of a win now is it. That is the problem you have with looking at pre-season polls and thinking it is a tough schedule."

Robert gave him the quick, decisive, intellectual pimp hand and I felt fortunate to see those 10 or so seconds. For me, McDoucheShay has come to epitomize how far the self-proclaimed world wide leader has fallen.

And it was sweeter that the mental beat down came from a Buckeye too.

I've started going back to watching Sunday NFL Countdown because the clowns at FOX are just unbearable. Anyways, today on Countdown there was a segment on the tenth anniversary of Herm Edwards' "You play to win the game" rant. Seriously. They spent about 15 minutes rehashing the whole thing. They interviewed Herm, his wife, and even Judy Battista, the reporter who asked the question. You know you're short on programming when you're commemorating the tenth anniversary of a postgame rant.

Too much of a good thing. They're up to 3 hours for each of those shows if you count the weird split they do for Gameday. I can't watch either anymore because there's just too much filler. I liked it a lot better when it was an hour and a half and they just hit on the important stories and the analysis of the big games.

Doesn't help that all the talking heads are basically caricatures of themselves anymore either.

Good news! Ohio State is bowl eligible!!1!

BREAKING NEWS: Either Miami (OH), UCF, Cal, or UAB joined the B1G this season (which gave OSU their 6th conference victory in 9 games)!

Apparently ESPN thinks Child Molester U's loss to Ohio State shouldn't count against their overall record.

I understand what ESPN is trying to say. Actually, I don't - what an odd comparison - and makes it look as though those employed at ESPN can't count to 5 correctly...

Herschel was a stud, that cannot be denied, but it does bother me a bit that people really don't remember how awful Georgia's schedule was in 1980 either. It's amazing to think how primitive this shit was just 30 years ago.

Tennessee 5-6
Texas A&M 4-7
Clemson 6-5
TCU 1-10
Ole Miss 3-8
Vanderbilt 2-9
Kentucky 3-8
South Carolina 8-4 (wins over Pacific, Wichita St, and Citadel)
Florida 8-4
Auburn 5-6
Georgia Tech 1-9-1
Notre Dame 9-2-1

Georgia did not play Alabama (10-2), LSU (7-4), or Miss St (9-3) that season.

For running that gauntlet, they were awarded a national championship. Oh, and they beat a rather pedestrian Notre Dame team in the Sugar Bowl by recovering a kickoff at the one that Notre Dame decided to not bother fielding.

Georgia's opponents' W/L record vs other D1A opponents was 48-78-2

Could you imagine the outrage if that occured today?
