Ended: 2008 External Mock Draft

Ahiacitian and sandgk just executed a trade on the mock draft site -
Dorsey to KC for KC's 1st round (#5) and 4th round (#100 overall) picks.

Since the Dorsey pick seems to be sticking, the St. Louis Rams are up. This team has a ton of needs, notably on both lines. Jake Long appears to be an offensive tackle around which to construct a team. Likewise, Vernon Gohlston is a formidable pass rusher, another position which this organization needs to shore up.

All that being said, Chris Long is the best all-around player available at this point. He may not have the speed and pure pass-rushing ability of Gohlston, but his all-around play on the line, against both the pass and the run, makes him the 2nd pick in the draft.

Chris Long, DE, The UVA Hoooooos.

Picks made:

Draft Order (BEFORE TRADES)

The next up detail is found on the review / picks made page.

We are going to have to be alert boys and girls!

Oh, yes, as far as I can see the trade by me and ahiacitian shows correctly in terms of my next pick when I log in (it shows my 36th overall as next up for KC, presumably Ahiacitian now sees #5 as his next pick).

The draft by Miami of Dorsey stays as #1 a matter of record - but the trade brings Dorsey to KC - so I added a comment on that trade to the page. Might be wise for us to use the draft review page for that kind of notation - keep player reviews / banter here?

EDIT: Another alert - that 8 hour clock? It runs continuously - no rest for anyone picking in the wee hours of the morning. Right now BRUTUS is up - if he picks near the end of allotted time then pick 4 begins at or around 2 AM - giving them till 10AM Monday to pick their player.

I think the clock stops overnight and doesn't start going again until 10am the next day.

Looked around in the forums on mydraft.com and indeed that looks right - gave an example of stopping at or around 9PM.

I also posted a question to see if the lack of overt trade on 1st pick is what we should see. (though all other particulars look correctly handled insofar as my 1st round pick is done right now - presumably Ahiacitian sees that on his clock).

Yep, I see that I now have the 4th pick (which should actually be the 5th pick). We do need to get this straight for the next three picks because I would have taken Jake Long at 4 but in actuality, he won't be there at 4 because Atlanta will be taking him at 3. So as long as Oakland or Miami doesn't take Jake Long over the next two picks then it should be alright.

Well the 3rd pick should be ATL's (mine) so I would appreciate it if whoever has Oakland doesn't take Jake Long. That is who I would be taking here.

No problem. I took Ellis and kept Long for you.

Miami is on the clock, even though it's Atlanta.

Go Raiders!!!
