Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim

lol, I didn't know that I'm almost done with my second playthrough! :bonk:

I saw the sneak perk that allows you to do a roll if you sprint while sneaking.. so I got the perk and started sneaking and not rolling. Then I decided to check the controls.

Mind = blown

I learned how to sprint after I accidentally pissed off a giant for the first time.

I had plenty of time to look it up as my character's body hurtled up and back to the ground.

Almost 49 hours since the last Skyrim post. Are we all sick?

I had to start over for the second time recently because I couldn't buy a house in Markath (sp?).

I am trying to get through Whiterun again (with about 10 rotating saves to make sure I don't have to start over again to correct a glitch) but it is all stuff I have done before.

I think we're all playing Skyrim.

Throwing this out there, I married Brelyna Maryon from the College in Winterhold. After J'Zargo got killed by the Hagraven trying to get Nettlebane I started bringing Brelyna everywhere. She kicks ass. She conjures Frost Atronachs so that really helps in battle and like all followers can carry a bunch of shit. Giving her the Staff of Paralysis is a great move for me because i like to hack and slash with my Absorb Health enchanted Superior Ebony War Axe while she stuns the foes. I'm 80 hours in and still only a level 37 or so, but I'd not be this far without Brelyna. I've got enchanted ebony armor and boots, orcish enchanted gauntlets and helmet. Enchanting skill is really high and I'm working on Smithing because I realized a long time ago I'd be better off making and enchanting my own weapons.

Point is, this game rules.

I've only used companions where they are mandatory. For me they mostly get in the way, but it sounds like you have a good arrangement going.

If I were to use a companion it would have to be something like that. I hack too indiscriminately to have other melee characters in my party, so having somebody who would stand back and do ranged attacks with magic would be best. The one time I did have that (the old dude from the Blades, during the main quest) it got annoying. We were running along and he was firerbombing the fuck out of every mudcrab like crazy. I normally run right past those - they're not worth the single hit it takes to destroy them. Instead I get a large explosion and 2/3 of my screen engulfed in flames.

I have had a few instances where she's died by my hand or another and I've needed to reload because she simply can't die at that point. I really have only done about 6 main quests, so after completing the Winterhold stuff I brought Brelyna around and realized it could work. Later I slipped on the Amulet of Mara and bagged her. Too bad I'm a Werewolf still and can't get the Lover's Touch sleep perk which allows you to learn all skills like 12% faster or more for 8 hours or something. I'm considering curing myself of lycanthropy because I actually do want some of the sleep perks and Beast Mode kinda sucks. No armor, no spells, no weapons = not that good in this game. Plus, with the Ring of Namira I'm a cannibal anyway without beast form. Nom nom nom.

I think I'm showing about 250 hrs of game play, but a bunch of that is from leaving the thing paused and walking away, sometimes overnight.
Stuck in cragwallow slope- there is a conjurer master that is kicking my ass. May need to go back to Breezehome and get my staff of paralysis, recharge it, and give it to Lydia. I pretty much take her wherever I go. Her weapons/armor are about as good as mine, and she has saved my bacon in more than a few instances (I've killed her a few times as well). Level 30, smithing at 100. Just got steel plating upgrade. Using skyforge steel greatsword(flawless) with 20% fire. I think 100 damage right now. Just starting to dabble in magic. 9 shouts so far. Good stuff.

I'm playing this game as a thief/assassin. I'm all about stealth and my soul absorbing bow. I struggle in melee combat. just not my thing. So I rarely have a companion. Too often, I'm crouched, trying to line up a major long distance shot and the dumbass companion, (karliah, I'm looking at you) starts pushing me from behind. Granted, Karliah had to go on a few missions with me, its in the script that way, but damn, stop pushing me from behind trying to get to your scripted spot in the game.

Yeah, that's another reason why I don't use companions wherever possible. At one point where I had a mandatory companion (Barbus) I got shoved off a ledge to my death. That's right - the mighty dragon slayer, impervious to nearly all manner of sword and spell - dies by being shoved off a cliff by a fucking dog.

I hired Belrand from Solitude around level 45 or so. He was a pretty good fighter, but did have a tendency to jump into battle when I was being all stealthy-like and shooting from afar.

However, I'm very glad I had him along for the Bard's College festival. I realized I hadn't seen him for awhile and found him putting the moves on a group of five ladies out on the back porch. He was asking if they needed a good, strong man, and they asked if he'd seen one. He shouted that they were all harlots. They told him, aww, c'mon, it's a festival, don't be like that. Next game, I'm saving before the festival and bringing different followers to spy on.

Now I have Jenassa as a follower. She's a good archer and mostly stays out of the fray until I give the go signal. Since she doesn't do magic, I give her any staffs we come across, which gives the fighting a little variety. It's more fun to have a follower now that I don't worry about leaving her behind. She always catches up eventually, so I figure where she goes is her business.

Favorite glitches so far:

  • A dog that became stuck in stair-climbing position and proceeded to ride his invisible bike around town
  • The lady at one of the taverns who can play her lute with a broom
  • Somersaulting dragons with floppy necks
  • The hawks flying around Solitude with a few hundred arrows stuck in them
