couple of works are coming to mind .... fuck and you and LoKyBuckeye

Cut LoKy some slack. I worked as a floor director at WBNS in my college days and I can tell you that he's on the Pepto-Bismol track. I use to get up at 5 to put the Farm Report with Bill Zipf on... followed by some hot-shit stuffed-shirt, sports jerk who was stuck doing Religious Forum... followed by Chet Long's misstress doing the kids show and her super bitch daughter.

I usually don't need the pepto until our Noon show... Sunrise is a piece of cake... the shit hits the fan at 11:45am.

Glad to know the Biz hasn't changed. Do the folks who call themselves "talent" still walk around with their copy of Broadcast folded back to the Help Wanted sections?

W-beans was awash with ego in those days (64 - 67)... I guess you have to have it to push your way forward... the salary table was so lopsided toward sales, the news anchor and GM. Still, it was a fscinating industry.

we only have a few that want to be known as "talent". For the most part the News crew is young... all of our reporters are in their mid or early 20's... our even anchors and weather guy for our evening shows are the ones with the big egos... I have one anchor who is semi-retired from Dayton and he does our Sunrise and Noon... he'll pull the "I've been in the business for 25 years and I know everything" card.

Salaries are still lopsided as I get paid crap but I love this job... it's fast paced and I get to be creative. Our shows are half news and half entertainment... we get to meet a lot of people... Gilbert Gotfried a few weeks ago and the actress that plays Janice Soprano yesterday....

The Farm Report, Religious Forum and whatever the hell the name of the kid's show was, didn't attract many personalities...
I do recall being called in one day for emergency phone duty. One of the Gemini capsules had its heat shield slip and there was a very real chance that two astronauts were going to be cremated on the way down. CBS cancelled the soap operas and went to network news. I was put in a room and answered as many phone calls as I could, "No ma'am, Guiding Light is not on now, its a network decision, we have no control, blah, blah, blah, it's important that you believe me." One blue hair really had her panties in a wad and wouldn't hang up, kept insisting the show was "real" and going on despite the network, that we were communists messing with people's minds, and on and on. I listened forever and finally told her, "I'm sorry, but there are other calls I have to answer. Its a network decision, the show is taped, it will be on tomorrow, you won't miss an episode." there was a pause and then she said, "Well, all I can say is piss on you sonny!" and slammed the phone down so hard my ear rang for a half hour.
