E. Gordon Gee (President West Virginia U.)

Okie States coach was on Mike and Mike this morning and he was asked about Gee's comments and basically said...... When you play OU, Texas and then Nebraska your kids have to play the entire game and its tougher to stay healthy..... basically I think no one wants to get in the convo but everyone at a major university is thinking the same thing. Can Boise and TCU hang with anyone? Yes, no one is disputing that the way the media is running with this but they play 8 garbage teams and want respect, [censored] that.... I would like to see them play a desperate Illinois team fighting for their coach at the end of the year right before they go up against Iowa on the road..... Just Wish Dr Gee never took the bait.
I agree, with most of this, but I don't think that it's bad that this is out in the open. The way eSpin is treating Boise, specially, it is good to have this conversation. I think that both Boise and TCU are very good teams, but they remind me of Iowa, a good starting 22, but when they have to go to the bench, that is when there is a disparity with the top teams.

eSpin, while pointing out how "dominant" they look while beating their conference foes, fail to point out that they are never pushed into playing their starters very long, nor are the starters absorbing the punishment that starters from major conferences take week in and out.

I would almost like to see them in the NC game so that we can see how they really would do against a top team with something to play for. The problem is that this year that would probably be against Oregon, and I'm not convinced that Oregon's defense is good enough to ensure an Oregon win. A game against an Auburn or Bama from last year, or tOSU or Nebraska, or against another balanced team that can run or pass and has a stout defense, playing for a NC, and I think it'd be a 3 score victory for big brother.

Wasn't it Georgia's president bitching about OSU being in the BCS Championship game a few years ago, saying the Big Ten was a weak conference and OSU didn't deserve to be there ahead of them?

Wonder what Tress thinks of the comments......Better yet, it will be comical to hear the Game Day boys especially KH talk about this. We all know what Kirk thinks about Boise.....

Gordon Gee told the truth..BSU and TCU would not run the table in the SEC and Big 12, Big 10. People can't handle the truth anymore. GG Bwas not talking abput a one game match-up he was talking about a seasonfull of Big games..on the road in hostile enviroments ..playing a Oklahoma one week and a TAMU the next.

Beating Va. Tech and Oregon St. followed by 10 layups warrants a spot in the BCS NC Game? GET THE FUCK OUT!

Want an invite to the BCS NC Game?

1) Add 20,000 seats to your stadium
2) Go Independent
3) Play against: ND, BYU, Navy, Army, 2-3 Pac10 schools, 2-3 Big12 schools, 1-2 BigTen/ACC schools and/or 1-2 SEC/BigEast schools.
4) Go undefeated

Then we'll talk. Otherwise, shut your fucking face.

the lulz keep rolling in, from the TCU President

that last quote is priceless, must have forgot about that article that i posted:rofl:

That's just it. He and the Boysee president love to talk smack but always find a way of getting out of the tough games: Boise and Nebraska, TCU and us. Now is the time to really call Boysee out for a series: home and home, equal payouts and no blue on blue. Drop the ball in that clown's court, and let him publicly accept or decline. If it's the latter, "anywhere; anytime" immediately becomes the punchline of college football.

I have always loved and respected Gordon Gee. But I can't help but think his getting involved in the BCS selections is simply beneath his office.
Absolutely agree. I just don't think Gordon Gee needs to be saying much about a sport that he admittedly doesn't know much about, (at least he states that he doesn't know much about it). However, I do think that its not a bad thing to have someone who is as important in NCAA/University affairs as Gee is, stating what is on the minds of many other coaches/ADs/Administrators across the nation.

A little off topic but if Boise and Oregon were to meet for the NCG Im taking Boise.

You can have them. The last team to beat Oregon was Ohio State. I'm not interested in seeing Boysee be the next one.

There's the rub. This year, Boise matches up way better with a no-d Oregon or Auburn than they do with the top one, or even two, loss teams. Stanford, Wiscy, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama--depending on how they look tomorrow, or even Sparty would all push their stools in by a minimum of 10 points with a 50-50 chance of a serious beatdown being applied. Simply because Boysee's defense has a pulse, I'd almost be inclined to pick them against Oregon or Auburn.

Best scenario is for them to get to the Rose Bowl and meet up with Wiscy or Ohio State.

I don't think Ohio State wants any part of a Boise home/away series. Its a money loss and possible prestige loss. Why would they want to get into that? Of course, ESPN wants it because they can broadcast it and sell it to high-heaven, but unless ESPN pays Ohio State a substantial bonus, I don't see the benefit of that game.

Boise State will have their little Chik-fil-a Kickoff against Georgia, which is not going to do very well against them. ESPN loves Boise because they can buy Boise's broadcasts cheaply and get high-ratings because they are a lightning rod of national division.
