I came out with a strong opinion on this being a NIL issue as well. Maybe I was wrong. It's the only thing that seems to make sense, because OSU held off recruiting other big time 5 stars, and OSU gained commitments from the best WR's in the country to put that kid in the best possible position for sure success.Maybe it's NIL and maybe it's not. But NIL has negated much of Ohio States recruiting advantage.
There was always cash changing hands at some level and in some amount. But OSU could argue better facilities. They could argue better coaches, traditions, fan base, and exposure. Most importantly they could argue a better route to the NFL than almost any other program.
But a benjamin is a benjamin.
We have folks on here arguing they should go to OSU because their Dad taught them the fight song when they were toddlers. I give each of my grandkids $1,000 when they graduate HS. It is the most money they have ever seen in their lives.
I have no evidence that this decommit was because of NIL.
But it was NIL.
He didn't there are still Buckeye related tweets.
Who knows what's going on but you'd think we'd know better than to overreact by now given this just happened a few weeks ago with Henderson...
NIL is not an unreasonable take the HC and AD have been talking to the media about it just within days of a change of mind. He was never “committed”.I came out with a strong opinion on this being a NIL issue as well. Maybe I was wrong. If there is another school that is willing to cough up big money, and also has big time receivers to throw to, it makes sense he wants to go there.
At least it happened now I guess, and not after a year of being on the team like Ewers. So, OSU can alter course for next year accordingly.
Nah, you just have to say those things as you negotiate your next NIL deal. Keep your value high until you sign.It seems to me like he’s not going to Nebraska. “Everything’s on the table” according to his dad. I think if it was Nebraska it would be a fairly quick and direct flip. Doesn’t seem to be the case.
He’s apparently upset with the staff over some things and this all suddenly happened over the last week so it seems pretty obvious it’s related to the Kienholz commitment and if that’s the case, then good riddance.
