Dylan Raiola (QB Nebraska)

Maybe it's NIL and maybe it's not. But NIL has negated much of Ohio States recruiting advantage.

There was always cash changing hands at some level and in some amount. But OSU could argue better facilities. They could argue better coaches, traditions, fan base, and exposure. Most importantly they could argue a better route to the NFL than almost any other program.

But a benjamin is a benjamin.

We have folks on here arguing they should go to OSU because their Dad taught them the fight song when they were toddlers. I give each of my grandkids $1,000 when they graduate HS. It is the most money they have ever seen in their lives.

I have no evidence that this decommit was because of NIL.

But it was NIL.
I came out with a strong opinion on this being a NIL issue as well. Maybe I was wrong. It's the only thing that seems to make sense, because OSU held off recruiting other big time 5 stars, and OSU gained commitments from the best WR's in the country to put that kid in the best possible position for sure success.

If there is another school that is willing to cough up big money, and also has big time receivers to throw to, it makes sense he wants to go there.

At least it happened now I guess, and not after a year of being on the team like Ewers. So, OSU can alter course for next year accordingly.

He didn't there are still Buckeye related tweets.

Who knows what's going on but you'd think we'd know better than to overreact by now given this just happened a few weeks ago with Henderson...

I noticed, on social media that is, when people suffer a breakup they tend to immediately go and remove all traces of their time with that person. The biggest being pictures or video.

This is the world as it exists today. Most people (sadly) do their speaking through these mediums and in such a way. So there is actually a great deal to take away from that type of 'distancing', for lack of a better word.

It seems to me like he’s not going to Nebraska. “Everything’s on the table” according to his dad. I think if it was Nebraska it would be a fairly quick and direct flip. Doesn’t seem to be the case.

No offense I don't know the kid and maybe he'll be every bit as good as advertised but personally I would rather have a 4* DT QB than a 5* pure passer that will rarely run. I think we've had more success lately with a Dual Thread Qb than a Pocket Passer.

NIL is not an unreasonable take the HC and AD have been talking to the media about it just within days of a change of mind. He was never “committed”.

He’s apparently upset with the staff over some things and this all suddenly happened over the last week so it seems pretty obvious it’s related to the Kienholz commitment and if that’s the case, then good riddance.

these top guys today aren’t going to go anywhere where there’s any competition. It’s just how it is. He was fine with Brock Glenn but I guess the new guy is too much competition for him. I bet there’s a good chance he ends up at USC.

If none of the QBs we have work out there’s always the transfer portal too. I’m sure top portal guys would love to come here with all the weapons they’d have. All will be fine

Brock Glenn wasn’t a threat to him.

Lincoln Kienholz is….especially bc of Kienholz’s mobility which Raiola doesn’t have. If it’s a battle of talented arms, Raiola wins. If it’s a battle over who will be the better college QB, I don’t think it’s very close.

Give me Kienholz all day here. Not only is he an athletic freak, he committed knowing the #1 QB in 2024 was coming behind him. That’s a balls on table move……not unlike Fields committing to OSU when Tate Martell thought the job was his.

Or Ewers transferring out when we landed Devin Brown and he saw he wasn’t gonna touch CJ Stroud either. And Ewers hasn’t been very good….

Sometimes you just know.
