That being said, the NBA is a revenue-sharing, market cap league. There are only 450 roster spots in the NBA, and only 150 starting players. Someone will play for you, even if you're in a crappy market. You can still write contracts to get young, hungry players, even if they're not Dwight Howard, and those players can become stars. And, more importantly, those teams can become very good. If you're a GM, do your job. Writing the biggest, gaudiest contracts might be necessary sometimes, but it can also be lazy GM'ing.
