Duke vs. North Carolina

Duke's yankee-like domination of ESPN/2 is quite annoying.

In 05, duke had 33 regular season games. 26 of those were on national TV. Doesn't that seem a tad bit excessive? Do we really need national coverage of Duke - Pennsylvania?

As far as NoD comparisons, Brent Musberger does not break into a golden-homer story every time he appears on ABC/ESPN like Mr. Vitale.

I agree that they are over-covered by the media, and never argued that. I don't hate a team because of airtime, I hate a team only three ways:

1. Rival
2. Constantly underperforming rankings year in and out
3. Cocky coach or cheating coach, aka Charlie Weis and Quinn Snyder

Again, your final comment has to do with media coverage, which again I have agreed with all along is quite excessive. It gives me a reason to dislike the media and the guys covering the event, but not the team or school. It seems like misplaced blame to me.

Most of the people I know have enjoyed watching them play for years because of their up-tempo gameplan and good coaching. Some had a love/hate, but no more than the next team. Again, I'll use the ND football as an example. ND has begged America to hate them with their consistent underperforming and cocky coaching, one thing Duke hasn't had until this year and one thing Duke just hasn't had period.
I strongly suggest you get some new friends (to properly gauge this)... hating duke is something of a national pasttime at an unrivaled level in CBB. People have different reasons, some as simple and bitter as hating a regular winner... but you have a perception of Duke perception that I have never encountered before.

What about their players. One of the main reasons I dislike Duke is because their players just seem to rub me the wrong way. So did Adam Morrison. If you don't dislike them, fine. But there are not only a certain amount of characteristics for which one must justify a dislike.

Christian Laettner, Cherokee Parks, Wojo, Reddick, Langdon, etc. :shake: They all came across smug or trying so hard not to be smug and that was even more annoying.

I hate Duke because I hate Duke.

Besides that, if you would've heard an interview given by a certain CBS Sportsline writer, the Duke coach is just as cocky as the rest of them.....

and you're the one telling us that we're not making sense? if posting that duke often looks like an average team and will be struggling to finish at .500 is "acting like an idiot with wreckless (sic) abandon," i find your follow-up to be hypocritical.

Define often? Often this year or in general? If the latter, you are grossly mistaken. Coach K has averaged more than 25 wins a season since he started, hardly producing "average" teams.

Wreckless abandon is making 5+ posts about how excited you are about Duke losing every time they do, and then saying they often look like an average team when they have been doing that for under a year now. Of course 5+ posts may not be all that much when you're on 24 hours a day.

I'm glad you explained yourself because I was going to say you were stooping to a level you don't normally do.

Sorry but I don't hate a sports team just because it's a national pasttime. I have way too many things to do that are a lot more enjoyable than hating on a team simply to hate on a team. The people I "hang out with" if you will, spend their time thinking logically and factually, and don't waste time hating teams simply to hate them. If that's weird then I'm proud to be a weird-o.
