DT Luke Fickell (HC Wisconsin Badgers)

Just feel bad for Fick, that's all. Oh well.

IF it this all comes to fruition, what does Fick do now? You would think it would be a step backwards to take his old job. Does he swallow that pill and see if Urban offers him a job, or does he go out and try and catch on somewhere else.

Hope it all works out for him, in the end.

GMAFB. Typical lame scUM attempt to recharacterize the situation and try to paint OSU in a negative light. Despite what you may want to believe, I'd imagine that LF is enough of a realist to see at the beginning of the season that he was a long shot to get the job full time. And that, I'm sure, has become more evident as the team has struggled to a 6-4 start.

You make it sound as if OSU gave him a 3 year contract and is now considering firing him, or that the team is 10-0 and they're still looking for his replacement.

All things considered, going back to his former position seems like a heck of a deal, and certainly is not a bitter pill to swallow, as you suggest.

If the rumors are true that Meyer is frustrated by coaching staff instability, then there's a strong possibility that a number of staff members on defense would be retained -- Fickell and Vrabel are obviously Buckeyes, and would likely stay for as long as they're wanted. Paul Haynes is a local Columbus guy, and someone who I also think would stay for a long time.

It would be nice to see some staff carried over, and I think that Luke has a terrific future in coaching, preferably here. Vrabel is a little harder to evaluate, and I think Haynes has also been solid and seems to be a good recruiter.

Anybody watching "Step Into My Office" on BTN?

Coach Fickell can't remember how long he dated his wife before he proposed, but he can remember the 4 wrestling matches he lost as a freshman in high school.

And yet he remains married.

Man must have a fifteen-inch pecker.

Not just this year. Ohio State has had some very good offenses in the past decade. 2006, 2009, 2010 being the main examples. But those teams all had elite talent all over the field. Even so, I'd classify those offenses as more "efficient" than "explosive". If Urban or Petrino coached those teams, or somebody like Malzahn was calling plays, you can bet your ass they'd have been laying some serious beatings on opponents...I'm talking 60-70 points. Part of it was JTs gentlemanly nature, a lot of it was Bollman's (often) vanilla game plans/playcalling. There were some single game exceptions, but for the most part, those offenses never reached their full potential, my IMO.

2006 featured THREE first round picks, a couple 4th rounders and the Heisman winner, and that was just the skill positions.

2010 featured the Big Ten's all time single season scoring leader- the freaking field goal kicker.

a good OC would have had the '06 team scoring FIFTY-six points per game, not 36.

BTW, its funny that people on here feel Fickell should be coaching at a lower end MAC school, which by the way is at least Division 1.

However, I remember us opening our arms to a man that was had controversy and a solid winning record at a Division 2 school - not MAC, WAC, Big East, or even ACC. How did Tressel "earn" the right to go from D2 to a TOP 25 program?

Makes sense to me.

1AA. which is Division 1 football. NOT D2.
