DT Luke Fickell (HC Wisconsin Badgers)

Akron is hiring, so is UAB.

My nightmare is that Fickell does not land one of these openings, instead it's MSU's current DC Pat Narduzzi that takes a HC job, so Dantonio is left looking for a qualified, young DC that can recruit Ohio ...

I felt bad for Fickell at the beginning of the season because he was almost set up to fail. They lost a lot of talent last year and he faced unrealistic expectations. I'm not sure if Tressel could have done much better than 7-5 with this team. He just lost too much leadership and talent. The whole time though, Fickell held his head high and fought through all the jackasses. He is a true gentleman of the game. A gentleman that was set up to fail in my opinion. He did a great job this year and that's saying something with all the distractions around him. Kudos to you Luke and good luck with wherever life takes you.

To me, in these circumstances, Luke Fickell goes down in my book as a top 10 coach at tOSU - all kinds of adversity, all kinds of controversy, all kinds of distractions and he still managed a .500 record with only one game we were really out of. I mean, honestly, he could have just as easily had just one loss.

Kudos Coach Fickell - you're a class act - I hope you stay with tOSU but I (and I would hope everyone else) would fully understand if you did not.

Great news.

He was handed a tough scenario and performed well under the scrutinty. I think he can eventually develop into a HC under Urban and eventually take over the team when Urban is ready to retire.

He took one for the team so to speak. Not to many people now a days would do that, which makes me respect him even more.
