DT Luke Fickell (HC Wisconsin Badgers)

But - if this were any other organization, keeping the former CEO on as an assistant is a move you would almost never do. The new boss would always have the old guy there, with the players looking to the old guy. I'd think he would want a clean sweep of OC and DC, let alone the last Head Coach hanging around.

Luke was never really the CEO, he just sat in the big chair.

Also, Meyer's resume brings instant credibility in that situation. There should be no doubt who will be in charge. It would be different if they tried this arrangement under most any other new head coach though.

Luke I have some questions for you..all these are based on the assumption when one is named HC of a Div 1 progam he is the CEO and responsible for the operation of the program: Why didn't you learn your own playbook? Why didn't you carry a play sheet or wear a head set?The QB is your general on the field..why didn't you form a strong relationship with him? When a team is in crunch time THE FRESHMAN qb needs a solid presence on the sideline to communicate with who was it?..if you really wern't head coach just spokesman and team motivator I am sorry you were placed in that position. The team has been at a disadvantage all year ..in coaching and leadership on the field,

C'mon people... Before you go spouting off about Fickell's supposed failure to "put his stamp on the team," at least take the time to read the insights of people like osugrad21 on just how little authority Luke Fickell had this season. He has been a caretaker more than head coach.

And to say, "I have a question for you..." as if he is accountable to you or I... :shake:

Then LF was put in a no win situation..he was never going to be HC if thats how little they thought of him..and the team was never going to be successful..plus all the things Grad listed above..but if this was a true audition he didn't run with it.

Regardless of what happens to Luke ... I want to say thank you to him for everything he did this year. It was a tough task and he did the best he could. I hope he stays on but if he leaves, I hope he returns home.
