DT Garrett "The Gladiator" Goebel (official thread)

Awesome update!!!

Again I say...I can't wait to see Garrett dressed in Scarlet and Grey, in addition to him ripping off someone's head(hopefully a QB of an opposing Team). He will be a Buckeye Gladiator.

Does Garrett have a nickname? "The Gladiator" ??

EX, FYI, Tressell has a history of being honest with recruits. We have lost players who wanted to be David Flucher(SP?) type huge DBs and Tressell honestly told the recruit his future was at LB. The recruits went elsewhere and guess where they ended up playing playing?

XP, love what you add to this board.

I've got a few questions for you.

Do you feel Mobley is leaning to OSU?

Also, has Garrett ever went against any of the BLOCK O kids at any of the camps he has been to?

Does he have an idea of who he will be living with at OSU?

Garrett keeps in contact w /Mobley and in Garrett's opinion he feels Mobley is "leaning" towards OSU. Garrett has not had an opportunity to play against any BLOCK O players. Last season Garrett played against Marian Central's Bryan Bulaga (Top 50 overall DE /OT now playing for Iowa Hawkeyes) and pretty much controlled him on both sides of the ball. This season Garrett CANNOT WAIT to go head to head vs. Sean Cwynar. As far as future roomate, Garrett has no idea and could care less as Garrett can get along with anyone for the most part. Garrett is not looking that far into the future...looking at this Sat. opponent / academic challenges this week. He has gotten off to a phenomenal start these first two games w/ 4 qb sacks, 6 tackles for loss, 3-4 knockdown passes & 9/10 pancake blocks. And in typical Garrett fashion he is not satisfied with either games' performance.

Sounds to me like a very appropriate / fitting nickname!!!!

Garrett "The GLADIATOR" Goebel!!!

Don't think I could of created a more perfect nickname myself!!! Officially approved / endorsed by the Goebel family. Now we will have to get this trademarked!!!

GREAT JOB!!! Thank you for your contribution. I am sure this will motivate / inspire Garrett even more than he already is!!!!

Daily Herald | Montini 55, Aurora Central 20

John Borsellino is small in stature, but Aurora Central Catholic discovered the Montini senior has the heart of a champion.

In Suburban Catholic Conference football action Friday night in Aurora, the Broncos ran only 38 plays from scrimmage. They were efficient.

Borsellino jump-started the Broncos' first-quarter offense with a 37-yard screen pass, the first of 4 Tom DiCristina touchdown passes, and Montini went on to cruise to a 55-20 victory.

Montini is 4-0, 2-0 in the league; Aurora Central fell to 1-3, 1-1.

Update on Garrett Goebel

wadc45;931889; said:

Garrett only played in the first half of last Fri. victory over A.C.C. (score was 40-7 at half) as Montini gave 2nd/ 3rd string players an opportunity for some playing time (while resting several 2-way starters). In the first half Goebel had 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss & several "pancake" blocks as OT.

Garrett is 100% healthy, continues lifting regularly while staying on top of his studies. He currently is a SOLID 275 lbs.(Although he is lean and does not appear to be this heavy while watching him on film) and remains focused on each weeks upcoming opponent. Watch for some game film from his first three games in the near future!!!

The Goebel family really enjoyed watching the Buckeye's victory over Washington on TV last Saturday!!! Go BUCKS!!
