Still love where we are at with Garrett...still the first school out of his mouth. If he doesn't verbal to UM during his July visit I would take that as a very good sign for us.

I still say he is OSU's...Brewster, Sweat, Stoney and Adams haven't really missed on anyone yet and if they think he is in that is good enough for me. The kid is very thorough and very business-like...the additional UM visit isn't a complete shock.

Exactly. If I were an eighteen year old kid being recruited to big time universities, I'd take every visit offered to me. GG is one of the kids I really want out of this class and I like where we stand.

Agreed...July was always the likely target date and Garrett still plans on deciding before his senior season so not much has changed. He has visited OSU with his family and would like to do the same with a visit to UM. Why not be thorough when making the biggest decision of your life? I'm sure JT would likely encourage such thoroughness...we know he only wants kids that truly want to buy into the program and (like someone else [21? nevada?] said) when Garrett makes a decision that will be the end of it...he will be 100% committed.

I agree with most of the optimism, but...

Everything I have read about Goebel indicates he is a class kid. Can't imagine a class kid taking his parents along on a visit if he was not at least somewhat open.

Not saying he isn't open...just saying that when he sits down to compare and contrast I think he will come to the conclusion that OSU affords him the best opportunity.

And before I UM fans get all up in arms, it's not like I would sit here and spout off that same line about any recruit trying to decide between OSU and UM. I think when Garrett looks at the pros and cons of each school the relationships he's build with JT, Coach Heacock and the Brew Crew will ultimately lead him to Columbus.

Always is. Particularly in recruiting.

I prefer the 'standing on the ledge', 'hanging on every (reported) word', 'life-and-death', Bill the Cat-esque Freak Out approach.

It keeps things much more exciting than the guarded optimism approach.

:wink2:

So in that light...Man! I hope we get this kid! GG is a must have in this class! Do the right thing (my needs that is) Garrett! Become a Buckeye!

Or make the best decision for you and your family...and I hope that you find tOSU is the best fit. Good Luck.

I think the Brew Crew is the wild card here. Garrett made the comment
sometime back, that practicing against the best could only make him a better player. I hope he comes our way, the rest to me, would only be icing on the cake.

Word is Michigan is pretty loaded on the DL. Supposedly, that was why "Lifelong Michigan fan" Omar Hunter committed to ND. I don't know how important depth chart is for Goebel, but still you got to love our chances if he is down to Michigan and tOSU.

:osu: This thread should be a the top of the board. # 1 recruit at a position of need. This class won't be a success if we don't bring in some serious defensive line help. Need both DT and DE's. Getting a commit from Garrett Goebel would allow us to be real picky with the other DT recruits.

Any one have any news other than the pending July 10 visit to UM?
