I think the idea here is if you've upgraded your PSP to a certain version, you can no longer play downloaded games or run applications. On the other hand, if you go back to this version 1.5, you can then reupgrade to a version before the one mentioned and play these again.

While technically true, I think it's a bit more than that. Considering this poster's only posts have dealt with unsolicited technical topics and carries an IP addy from China, that he is more concerned with people (this is my theory anyway) reverting to an open version which allows the usage of illegally downloaded items, as it likely benefits him/her in some direct manner.

And considering he/she's followed up posting to his/her friend that was recently banned (also with a Chinese IP addy), we'll now say bye to him/her as well.

On a completely different note, I think I should try downgrading my psp, I never use the thing so if I brick it I won't miss it. I saw this thread go up last night and was curious what the hell made him post that here, but hey, I guess if you want to advertise for some reason or another any place will work.

On a legitimate note....

Yes you can downgrade AND unbrick your PSP using the battery....

wont say how because you wont believe me but here is the basics....

You have to remove the 5th battery connector (seriously this is a must, it som how tricks the PSP into thinking the factory software installer is loaded) then you insert a a memory stick preloaded with the backwards program.

Its not that hard to find and I dont want to promote another website or fourm. But I belong to it and all softwware there has been legit for me so far.

PLEASE BE FORWARNED, removing the connector from the battery is VERY DANGEROUS, dont be stupid and wear a tin foil hat and your grandmothers jewerly on both hands while doing this!

But if we remove our tin foil hat, then won't Sony be able to read our mind and know we are downgrading?
