Dotting the "i" (official thread)

Pace, hands down. He didn't win a Heisman but he was the most decorated Buckeye player in school history and only the second true frosh to start an Ohio State opening game.

I love Eddie and his Buckeye lore, but Orlando is just as much of a legend. He will never have his jersey retired because he played a position that won't win such an award.

The “i” in Script Ohio is typically dotted by a fourth-year sousaphone player. (If all fourth-year players have done so, a fifth-year band member who previously dotted might be tabbed.) Only rarely is a nonmember invited to do the dotting. The guest dotters through the 75 years:

• James “Buster” Douglas, boxer

• Paul Droste, former band director

• Jack Evans, former band director

• Novice Fawcett, former Ohio State University president

• E. Gordon Gee, OSU president

• John Glenn, former astronaut and former U.S. senator

• Woody Hayes, former football coach

• Richard Heine, former band arranger and composer

• Bob Hope, comedian

• Jack Nicklaus, former OSU golfer

• Robert Ries, former ticket director

• Leslie H. Wexner, businessman and alumnus
