Does Michigan go to a bowl game this year?

Yep and Michigan lost their entire OL...IIRC Illinois lost 2-3 OL. Thats 2-3 positions right there for illinois. TE goes to Jeff Cumberland. JLeman Left but they have two returning LB'ers who are very good. Both teams lost both safeties. I give the one corner spot to Vontae Davis of Illinois.

Honestly I would say Michigan is better than Illinois at both DE spots and one DT. I heard Illinois DL as a group is very talented but has no superstars. I'D give Michigan RB, one corner spot, and punter. 6 out of 24 including special teams is not very good. Illinois has a good team. Michigan still doesn't have the position that counts and thats QB...thats trumps anything. Michigans offense will not be good without a QB. Their defense is not deep or good enough to be on the field alot this season. If they sustain injuries this year like they did last they will not make a bowl.

OSU getting Pryor set RR back at least a year. Thats gives the B10 an extra year to adjust. Pryor to OSU fucked Michigan more than one way.
First off, no, we did not lose our entire OL.

Second, what on earth was that about talent alone doesn't win you ball games? What does, then? Coaching? That guy we hired, what's-his-name....not a bad coach, despite what you think about his character.

Much of the loss from last year comes from the decision of Hart, Henne and Long to stay for their senior year. To assume that their back ups had no talent and didn't improve during the year while riding pine is probably not accurate. The loss of Mallet is a major set back, to be sure. But this is still a team that played the Bucks right down to the last possession and this is a program that recruits well even if they lost Pryor.

You can count on one finger the number of times this (UM) program has lost to both OSU and Penn State. That's better than the Buckeyes can say. That could well expand to two fingers this year, but they'll be in a bowl game and they'll be a load by the time they get to Columbus. After all Millie doesn't leave the island for nothing.

You lost me here. I can count the number of times scUM has lost to OSU and PSU in the same season on hell of a lot more fingers than one.

Conversley I can count how many times OSU has beaten both PSU and scUM on multiple fingers as well.

I doubt you can do that, Jax...

1994 was the only year Michigan lost to both PSU and OSU

Ohio State has beaten both Michigan and PSU 4 times since 02

hadn't had my coffee yet this morning, I was thinking how often PSU had lost to scUM and OSU. Had my two most loathed schools mixed up. :wink2:

My take: Issues are a-plenty and severe. Risk of injury ... well.. just ask yourself how good WVU was when Pat White was riding the pine.

and ask yourself why he was riding the pine so often...if WVU is the window to scUM's future they all think it is, they better take note of the need for 2 QB's at all times.

You know, I don't think this is talked about enough. Pat White couldn't stay on the field in the Big East because of all the hits. The Big East is smaller and less physical than the Big 10. Those guys are going to take some shots. I'm thinking that Terrelle Pryor's decision was even smarter than I originally figured.

Michigan fans I remember a highly favored Buckeye team that was more talented than Illinois losing to them last year. Talent alone doesn't win football games. Ask someone who has played the game because obviously you haven't. Execution wins games!!

I agree that talent alone does not win games.

But there needs to be at least a certain level of talent in order for coaching, game planning, and execution of game plan to be effective. Talent and depth of talent, allows the scout team to be that much better and give a much better look in practice where said coaching and game plan is worked on, so that execution can take place.

Thats what I am saying. I don't think Michigan has much more than talent than Illinois across the board anyways. Maybe a little but IMO its marginal.

Michigan does not have the QB or the OL to execute the system they are trying to run offensive. Until they show they can I'm not drinking the coolaid. Their defensive front is stout but the back seven took some heavy losses and they lack depth everywhere on defense. They have little or no depth at DE...any losses there will really hurt their team.
