Just to make things even more confusing to non fishermen, I've been into the JDM only Daiwas for awhile and I've gotten really good at super tuning them.

Back to your 35 series reel-i can see how that would really be unbalanced on any 6' rod. The good thing about the St Croix is that the M fish almost like a MH, so it should be a great fit.
These days I'm almost exclusively braid to mono leader on my spinning reels-I like a 15lb leader when toothy creatures are present

I just ordered a couple spools of the reaction 8 strand in 8 & 10 lbs. Decent price. Usually coated flouro for leaders, but "mono I have laying around" works just fine.
