Exactly. It doesn't matter if our definitions are or aren't the same it only matters if you think it is inherent and once admiting that it does then you are qualified to answer the question of the thread. your concept nor mine have nothing to do with it, only your opinion in answering the thread question.

You are extrapolating a subjective answer from my responses. I never once said it was inherent. I am not exactly sure what you really mean when you say that. Just because I stated that, within my own realm of belief, that evil exists, does not mean that for everyone, or as a general statement, it must be an undeniable fact.

It seems at though you believe inherent means "without question" or possibly "forgone conclusion" and I refuse to allow that as a final statement because it isn't even close to what I have been saying. My agreeing that evil exists does not preclude any other opinions or beliefs. LOOK UP SUBJECTIVE.

The thread title is "Do you believe people are basically evil?"
Believing that evil exists, as a subjective concept, does not, in any way, mean that I , as an individual, believe that people, in general, are evil. That is, undeniably, a SUBJECTIVE opinion. Trying to paint me into a corner with regards to what my personal idea of what evil is doesn't have a damn thing to do with the price of tea in china or the popular belief regarding humans being "basically evil."

Hmm is that subjective or objective ??

I said it exists. You said it exists. What you define it as is probably different from what I define it as. That is what subjective meas. That has been the main subject of my entire debate tonight. Can you not agree that what I might say is evil is different from what you say is evil? That has been my entire argument this evening. Is is so hard to admit that evil, as a concept, changes from person to person?

you are arguing over a belief, you can do that til the end of eternity, there's countries in the middle east that are. This isn't a political conversation, but it is a no-win discussion. Get over it, Old Buckeye, you have your belief, you think evil exists, OCBW is under the idea that if someone believes something exists, then it exists, I am of the belief that "if you can't see it, feel it, touch it, hear it, or smell it" then it doesn't exists. Is anyone going to win this argument? If you think you are going to, then I have a wall in my back yard that needs someone to argue with it.

This is all that matters to the question of does it exist or not. Most people do believe it exists. A lot of cultures believe it exists in objects and animals inherently. Now the thread was relating to "do you believe it is inherent'

The arguement as to whether or not evil exists or if people are inherently evil can be worked over until hell freezes over assuming there is a hell or such a thing as freezing.

people are not inherently evil they learn how to be evil by being taught that by others. As a child we probably would consider evil the person who smacks us on our butt right after we were born. And thus we learn our first step in right and wrong , of good and evil.

I am not the one using the word "inherently" like it was pez in a raver girl's beaver.
