Ohio State helping to bring England's premier Shakespeare company to New York for a six month residency.

Shakespeare Troupe Plans Residency in New York in 2011

Royal Shakespeare Company Plans Extended New York Residency - NYTimes.com

The six-week residency is dependent partly on a seven-figure financial contribution from Ohio State University and two of its leading donors, Les and Abigail Wexner. The Royal Shakespeare Company and Ohio State are collaborating on a training program for teachers to enhance instruction of Shakespeare; the theater company previously had a close relationship with the University of Michigan. (In New York the company?s most recent productions were ?King Lear? and ?The Seagull,? starring Ian McKellen, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2007.)

RIP

Mason was a graduate of Ohio State University and served in World War II in the European theater with the Fourth Armored Division of General George S. Patton's Third Army. For his distinguished service during the war, he was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and other citations. Following the war, he founded the Columbus Truck and Equipment Company of Columbus, Ohio, in 1949 and established his fortune.

But Mason's real passion was his support of young people in their pursuit of higher education. He was one of New College's longest and most staunch supporters. In addition to his support of New College, he also was a longtime supporter of Ohio State University, Berea College, Alice Lloyd College and Franklin University.

Colorado State and Ohio State to partner on energy/environment research. Nice collaboration :)

CSU, The Ohio State University will share energy/environment leadership position

link

COLUMBUS, Ohio - In a unique agreement that brings together two national research institutions, Colorado State University and The Ohio State University have created a shared leadership position to explore energy and environment-related research and economic development opportunities, the universities announced today.

The three-year position - called the vice president and enterprise executive for Energy and the Environment - will be filled by Ron Sega, former astronaut and undersecretary of the U.S. Air Force who currently serves Colorado State as vice president for Energy and the Environment and Woodward Professor of Systems Engineering.

?We are truly fortunate to have attracted Dr. Sega, a distinguished alumnus, back to Ohio State through this joint appointment,? E. Gordon Gee, president of OSU, said in a statement. ?He is among the nation?s most prominent and successful leaders in effecting change in energy and the environment, areas in which Ohio State has broad and significant strength. His work here will be of tremendous benefit to our students, faculty, and staff, as well as the state of Ohio.?

ORD or someone else who would know.....

I got into an argument with a friend, who says FSU is a much better school (I know pretty general), than tOSU. I said not only is FSU not MUCH better, but they arent even close to tOSU. So...can I finish him, or do I have to apologize?

American Geophysics Union is currently the cream of the crop in geosciences, as I understand it. So congrats Buckeyes and it should be fascinating!
