yep, he's a bit undersized as a DT, a bit like Cam and Simon were a bit undersized as Frosh, and I guess they turned out OK his quickness and his motor are his strengths.

Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery.

Exactly my thoughts too. Putting question marks around his leg drive could really alter a DT's future.

Thanks, gotcha...for some reason I was thinking along the lines of bashing recruits and I couldn't fathom why someone would criticize Mike for this.

Bennett breaks arm at All-American game

Ohio State University recruit Michael Bennett broke his left forearm late in the third quarter of Saturday?s U.S. Army All-American Bowl football game at San Antonio.

?It was about the sickest feeling that I?ve had in a long time,? said Elks coach Ron Ullery, who was at the weekend?s festivities for a coaches clinic.

?I just felt bad for the kid.?

The Centerville High School senior defensive lineman lay on the Alamodome playing surface for nearly 10 minutes before being removed. He was injured while attempting to take down West quarterback and Nebraska recruit Bubba Starling. Bennett was knocked from the side and attempted to brace his fall with his left arm when the injury occurred.

Until then, ?he was playing really, really well,? said Ullery.

?He always pops back up, so I think he knew it was broken right away.?

Neither his condition nor his outlook of recovery could be confirmed. However, the 6-foot-3, 275-pounder underwent surgery that day at San Antonio. Bennett had planned to throw the shot put and discus this spring, then graduate from Centerville. He throws with his right arm. He?ll begin classes at OSU in mid-June.

Buckeyes defensive coordinator Jim Heacock was at the game and huddled with Bennett afterward.

Word is that the broken left forearm suffered by Ohio State football recruit Michael Bennett on Saturday in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio was a clean break. That means that the recovery period is expected to be six to eight weeks.

Bennett, a defensive lineman from Centerville, was not planning on enrolling early anyway, so he should be cleared to participate in summer workouts and preseason camp.

Because the break was in his left arm, Bennett might still compete in track for Centerville this spring. He's a shot putter, and he puts with his right arm.

The game matches the 2011 U.S. Under-19 National Team, assembled by USA Football, against a World Team comprised of athletes spanning four continents. All players and coaches are available for media interviews following practices at Westlake High School.

Players also will be available at a National Signing Day Breakfast on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Austin Marriott South from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. CT where they will sign letters of intent to formally announce where they will attend college this fall.

The game will be nationally televised live on Fox College Sports Central as well as on seven regional cable networks. Among the outlets broadcasting the game on tape delay is NFL Network, which will air the game on Friday, Feb. 11, at 4:30 p.m. ET. The Team USA vs. The World game will be available in more than 100 million households live or on tape delay.
