DK Royal Stadium versus the Shoe....

In less than 3 days A&M organized "Red, White, and Blue OUT" (they usually have "Maroon OUT"

That's quite impressive, but it sure looks like a Red, White and Purple out ! Maybe I really am colored blind.

From all I've heard, Kyle is a great atmosphere, but I'll just stick with the 'Shoe. It's all I need to see.

Even your own Kirk Herbstreit after the 2002 Oklahoma game says that Kyle Field has the #1 atmosphere.

How about dem apples.

The Utah football team (1-0) will have to deal with 82,600 screaming fans along with a very talented Texas A&M football team this Saturday evening, and the team knows that getting through the environment at Kyle Field will be an extremely difficult task.

CBS Sportsline.com recently labeled Kyle Field as the best stadium in the country, and ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit called Aggies fans the nation's best-and for good reason.

Labeled as the "12th Man," Kyle Field is enormous and deafening.
1) If you really think he believes that then you are a fool.

2) If he had said Ohio State has the nations best fans, would you be taking his word as gospel?

I haven't been to a game at the 'Shoe but will see it in September. From the looks of it, I doubt DKR will compare. I'm alumni but won't sit on the alumni section during our games because I don't want some blue hair yelling at me to sit down. At big games, the place get's a little rowdy but I wouldn't classify our overall fan base as "intimidating" by any means.

Now, saying that... I'm going to have to stick up for our pregame atmosphere. Parking lots are packed with tents, grills and kegs and you'll be welcomed to any tailgate when you come in next year. There are great bars to go to before the game (Scholz's being one of the best) where you'll hear nothing but football talk. And yes... some of the girls get a little dolled up for the football game.... but is that so bad?

As for Aggy... they do have a good fan base, but their tailgating sucks and even though they get up for big games, they've recently had problems selling out their stadium against teams that aren't UT or Tech.

Anyway... looking forward to it.

Aggy has tailgaiting?

really though i would have to echo orangeblood, i would bet that the shoe is much more intemidating than dkr, but from the sound of it our tailgating is much better. If for no other reason than I don't even have to think about drinking beer in a cofee cup in Austin

I still think Kyle Field at Texas A&M beats out Ohio Stadium and DKR hands down.
Every time I start talkin' bout college football, some Aggie has to bring up Kyle Field....

Kyle Field gets loud, they place the UT fans around the top of the stadium, and the last time we played there we were so affected by the noise and tradition that we beat A&M 46-15 in that very REMEMORABLE day after thanksgiving beat down.

I noticed a post a few days ago comparing the atmosphere of Columbus and Austin, and I believe somebody pointed out that fans are more into their football in C-bus than they are in Austin, which I find very believable. But man, the people in College Station are definitely into their football (as their really is not much else to do.) It gets loud at Kyle Field, etc. etc. WoooooOOOOOOP! Ha, scary chant, now go clap your hands all in unison somewhere else. The fans sway, the cadets yell, they have yell practices to practice their chants for the game.

Anyway, so far it has been the loudest place I have seen a CFB game, but I am thinking that after OSU, I will have to change that opinion. I also hope the OSU crowd affects Texas about as much as the Kyle Field crowd affected us in 2003.

You guys that are coming up from Texas for the game are in for one helluva big party.

Given the importance of this game in both teams' NC hopes, the buzz over this game and the fact that it's a night game (a rarity at the 'Shoe), the rowdies will be out in full force. I have no doubt that it'll be one of, if not the loudest crowds the 'Shoe has ever seen.

Dang, I'm getting goosbumps just thinking about it!

The notre dame was similar in how big it was, but that was pre-expansion. HL, we'd be honored to have you as our guests for the most populated thrashing ever in the shoe!

With all due to respect to A&M, please don't compare Kyle Field to Ohio Stadium. To Aggie fans, tell everyone how many fans showed up to the home season opener in 2004 against Wyoming? Answer 65,600. With an official capacity of 82,600, that's down right pathetic. What was the Aggies average home attendance in 2004? Answer 74,798. That's around 7,500 below a SELLOUT as your average.
I respect the great traditions they have down there, but when you can't sell out every home game you just can't compare Kyle Field to Ohio Stadium. Look at Ohio Stadium's yearly avg. attendance since the renovation, its always around 103,000 (capacity 101,568). Before Aggies start spouting off about an intimidating stadium, try filling your 82,000 seat stadium CONSISTENTLY!

Go BUCKS!

TAM visited the Shoe in 63 I believe. I do remember a note in the game program that claimed that TAM fans referred to the school as "Sing Sing on the Brazos."

"It is VERY loud there as everyone yells in unison"

If you want chants go to Mitchie Stadium (West Point) or the Cathedral at Chartes. If you want loud, give Michigan the ball on their own 35, 4th and what was it? 1, and have Braylon Edwards cough up the ball. That's loud you can feel.
