Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

So the boy learns that rather than there being one monster in the world, they're probably all monsters. Nothing like utterly destroying a child's faith in humanity at his moment of greatest need.

Fortunately, Joe Paterno called the police as soon as McQueary told him what he saw, the investigation brought Sandusky to justice, and a little boy's faith in humanity was given some hope.

Oh wait, Joe made himself a sandwich, called his boss the next day, then started working on his game plan for Temple. Never mind.

Oh, cripes!
You know why Westboro's protesting: nothing to do with harming children, I'm sure. Those lunatics are showing up because Sandusky wasn't raping girls.

I'm gladder and gladder that I've got to be out of town on Saturday, and won't be home to watch this.
If there's a trophy for this game, it should be named the Hindenburg/Titanic.

This is the recap of McQueary's and JoePa's testimony regarding Victim 2 and the 2002 incident, per the Grand Jury document:

This is Joe's statement today:

It seems like JoePa is trying to minimize how serious of an allegation, or how blatant an act of sexual abuse that McQueary reported to him.

JoePa and Spanier seem to both be lawyering up, trying to circle the wagons, adding in some PR spin to minimize the nastiness of the allegations and the crimes that apparently continued to occur after they didn't make sure in 2002 that Sandusky's alleged crime was reported to police.

It should cost Spanier his job, and it will cost JoePa his legacy, since he only had a few weeks left as a head coach anyway. But it should cost them, and everyone else involved, all of those things.

I just wanted to quote this to again point out Joe Paterno's blatant dishonesty.

That's crazy.

I'm sure Joe Pa had Sandusky pick up trash at the stadium after home games for the rest of that season.

3. Penn State apologists state that Paterno discharged his duty by reporting the incident to AD Curley. It's looking more and more like Paterno reported to Curley so that Curley - along with his "fixer" Schultz - could bury the matter.

Better than that.

They are saying Schultz (the finance guy) was the head of the campus police, which of course they portray as a on par with the FBI ergo St Joe not only actually informed the police he took it straight to the top cop (which is of course better than any other human on earth would do).

You can't make this stuff up.

I could do without the hyperbole, Jake. We all know Joe hasn't worked on game plans for 10 or 15 years now.

One of the Fearsome Foursome chimes in.

Penn State football legend Roosevelt 'Rosie' Grier: University must clean house to survive the Jerry Sandusky scandal

Former Penn State football legend Roosevelt ?Rosey? Grier on Wednesday said that to retain its high stature, the embattled university must do what is right.

?You can?t keep your reputation intact until you clean up the situation,? said Grier, recipient of the Penn State 1974 Distinguished Alumni Award and the 1991 Alumni Fellow Award.

?You got to check on the young men affected. That?s the first place you?re supposed to go. Next you make sure and check the people you have around that allow this to continue to go on. If they all knew about it, they should?ve all been up in arms. You can only get clean when you come clean.?

Joe Paterno on Wednesday announced his retirement at the end of the season amid a growing sexual abuse scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. Sandusky has been charged with charged in the sexual assault of eight boys.

The university?s Board of Trustees was expected to meet Wednesday night to call on the resignation of President Graham Spanier, who has served for 16 years.

Neither Paterno nor Spanier have been charged in relation to the case. Two PSU officials were charged with perjury and failure to report abuse allegations.

Grier said the developing story has been a difficult one for him to follow.

?This is my school,? said Grier, who played with the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Rams. ?I have great love for Joe Paterno and the job he has done there. I would hate to have him leave under this cloud. But even saying that, someone has to take the responsibility, certainly he reported to administrators. It should?ve been a group action. All should?ve worked as a team to make sure things were handled cleanly, clearly and without prejudice.

Grier earned a retrospective place in the National Collegiate Athletic Association 100th anniversary list of 100 most influential student athletes. Grier was named to the NCAA?s List of the 100 Most Influential Student-Athletes and to the New Jersey Sports Hall of Fame.

He garnered global attention in 1968 when he subdued Sirhan Sirhan moments after he assassinated presidential candidate Robert Kennedy.

Grier said the university should have handled the scandal differently from the onset.

According to the grand jury report, university officials learned of the alleged abuse as early as 2002, when then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary saw Sandusky performing a sex act on a young boy in the football locker room showers and reported the incident to Paterno.

Paterno, in turn, told his boss, former athletic director Tim Curley. Curley and former university Vice President Gary Schultz have been charged with perjury.

?You have to handle this issue right way from the beginning. They should?ve brought it to the police and should?ve exposed it and let them do their work.?

Grier, a member of the board of trustees for the Milken Family Foundation, a research and education organization, predicted Penn State would survive the ongoing scandal.

?It won?t bring down the house,? he said. ?This could happen to anyone. This is an incident that happens all over the place. What you have to do is clean it up. Clean your house before you can try to restore anything. You take out the cancer.?

You can't make this stuff up.

That might be legitimate if there were, oh, say, an actual police report or perhaps an arrest, or if perhaps he placed a phone call IMMEDIATELY.

The whole timeline has more of a feel of "Not this shit again. Jeez. Why can't that fuckhead Jerry keep this off of my campus? I'll call Curley tomorrow and have him tell Sandusky that he can't bring his boys around anymore. That'll teach him. Now where did I put the mayo?"

It speaks of a culture where everything gets handled in house as a matter of reflex. I mean, FFS, McQueary's own DAD says to get out of there and report it to JoePa. Not the cops, not go in and save the kid, not go confront the pervert, but instead to leave, come over to dad's and then go tell coach.

Now here's the acid test. Let's say McQueary walks in and it's not Sandusky in the shower. It's a janitor or groundskeeper or equipment manager. What does he do then? Run out like a coward and go to daddy's, or step up and be a man and do something? Does he call JoePa or does he call the cops?

Easy fucking answer. Everyone behaves 180 degrees differently if the perv is a nobody, and not a "Nittany Lion legend". McQueary mans up and kicks a pervert's ass, cops write a report saying the perv slipped in the shower and the powers that be rather than fighting to cover it up, fight to make sure the perpetrator gets the book thrown at him for staining their school's legacy.

Paterno needs to resign effective immediately so he can devote time to testifying to the State Police, the Board of Trustees, The US Dept of Education, and for good measure, how about the victims' families.

It's a good thing Sandusky wasn't trading uniforms for tattoos... no wait, he was trading them for sleepovers.

Jeeeezus Criminy
