It's not likely a dish out of alignment.
It's most likely your DVR dying. DirecTV has had some issues with DVRs dying. The damn DVRs run all the frickin' time! They say it's to help reliability, but just like your computer running all the time, it's just not good for the hard drive.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I didn't think the input to Satellite In 2 was needed since I never needed it before. I did reset the receiver and also ran through the satellite strength checks. The diagnostics on the receiver check looked OK. Although I have the DVR Protection Plan (already saved my ass once), I really don't want to have to swap out DVRs again because I have this past season's games (and the HBO special The Rivalry) on it. I see what else I can do after I get home from work...
