Too soon old, too late smart
Wood, not sure how to correct the belching part, but you might want to join a Masters program in Chicago area. These are 'older' ex-swimmers that still want to lap it up. Check in the USA swimming web site, and you might get lucky and find a group near you. Probably located in an indoor pool (or a covered outdoor one in cold weather states), or YMCA, etc. They usually start about 5:30am, and for about two hours. Work out on your own, but there's a 'head honcho' that might help you with some technique (stroke, breathing, turns, etc). Cost you a bit to join, but is on a monthly basis, so not so much outlay at once. Our daughter is swimming in college (DIII), but swam with the masters program to keep in shape after swim season (spring in Cali) until she went to college in August. Don't worry about speed, the long slow strokes are best to burn calories and get good cardio. 'Course, swimming doesn't wreck joints like running or football or anything else does, and the only muscle it doesn't work is the one between our ears.
Good luck,
