They're not terribly convenient for taller people (of which I am not). I hope you are able to manage.

Reverse grip = Chin Up
Front grip = Pull Up

Typically, Chin Ups are easier than Pull Ups. Just work what you can.
It's going to be challenging, it's just so awkward. I have to grab the bar and then bend my knees to be off of the ground. It takes a lot out of me. I have ab straps too and I was hanging and pulling myself up with those, I think they'll help me.

I bend my knees as well. You'll get used to that part. I have the opportunity to get the ab straps for mine, but I've decided to hold off.

Btw, if the Pull Up bar becomes inconvenient in your doorway, then you can always make your own in the garage by studding a couple pipes and putting one across.

DC, I'm having trouble not picturing you as Kevin Spacey in American Beauty doing pull ups in the garage. Dust off your copy of John Wesley Harding.

I bought a 20 lbs weighted vest last night, I'm going to start using it for my core/abs workout, pushing and cardio. Also, I'm up to two legit pullups :) I found that the trick is not to bend the knees and hang but to swing my feet outward a bit and then pull up, keeping my legs straight. When I can do ten like that I'll start using the weighted vest.

I started the Insanity Workout last week with a group of guys. It is pretty brutal so far, but survivable. I am nervously looking forward to the second month when the workouts are supposed to get longer and tougher.

Down 30 pounds from the middle of May.

Tracking my caloric intake, and working out 5 days a week. Nothing special, just cardio/weights on MWF and a 2.25 mile hike (up hill and back) on TTh

Wheeee....
The uphill walking is really good. IMO caloric tracking can not be over stressed.

I had to postpone my workout today. After one round of my abs sets I had a severe acid reflux attack. Last night I went out for pizza, had 4 ales, 2 on an empty stomach and since I'm such a loyal customer they insisted upon giving me a slice of their chocolate cheesecake. I think that that is what put me over the top and triggered today's attack. It was so fucking sweet and rich that after one bite I wanted to hurl, I couldn't eat it. All I've eaten today is a peanut butter sandwich and some oatmeal along with a few cans of ginger ale. Oh yeah, the coffee this morning probably didn't help either.

My sympathies. Acid reflux is no joke, especially severe attacks.

Anyone that says, "Suck it up and take a couple Tums," has never wound up in the ER because they thought they were having a heart attack, only to find out it was just bad pizza they ate ten hours before.

I've been to the ER 3 times for just that. It can get pretty fucking scary. I've also been up on a mountain hiking and had what seem like asthma attacks, can't breath, the body lacks oxygen so the heart starts pounding to try oxygenate the body. I try to eat right but hell, I want to enjoy the things I like too. If it means an occasional acid reflux attack, so be it.

The last couple times I've worked out, towards the end my ears feel like they need to pop, the same feeling you get in an airplane. Is this normal?

Probably abnormal pressure on your face/ear drum area from training. It's not a big deal. Years ago when I trained equipped, I'd get nose bleeds about 3/4th(if I was grinding) of the way up on max effort squats. PWO I'd have so much pressure on my face that I wouldn't eat (chewing just wasn't fun).It would also push out oil through pores on my face. Busted blood vessels in your eyes is also fairly common.

Damn, that's hardcore. One more thing, when I first started I would sweat but very lightly and only towards the end of my workout. Now after about 10 minutes I have sweat dripping all over me, I need to towel off after each rep set. Is that normal?
