Devin Gardner (official thread)

Kalis was a true freshman last year and Omameh a 5th year senior . I get what your saying, But potential wise it is not even close comparing the two. Kalis jumped ahead of 2 or 3 upperclassmen to start this year which most Michigan people thought he would. Ohio state has couple new names on there line this year. I think after a redshirt year , at the o line position that is when the potential and steady good weight comes through.

Actually just one FYI. LT through RG are all seniors this year, with RT being a sophomore.

I bet Braxton makes this list 2013, being Meyer's former two QB's made it.

One can only hope. Forget the Heisman, Miller needs to concentrate on making the prestigious two full touchdowns 14 points above average for 5 straight games adjusted for strength of schedule QB list on mblowblog.

The difference between Braxton and Gardner is:

1. Braxton is a legit Heisman candidate. Gardner is not even in the top three QB's in the B1G.

2. Braxton is coming off a 12-0 season. Gardner is coming off a sub par season of 8-5. scUM went backwards in '12 and may do the same this year.

3. The OSU Offense is going to be significantly better with a veteran team returning along with the addition of some new phenom skill players. Our OC said we basically played only 60% of the Offense because we did not have the Percy Harvin type player. Hall, Wilson, etc. will bring in that new dynamic. scUM Offense looses it's most dynamic player along with some veteran players. There is no one on the scUM Offense that can stretch the field. The jury is still out on the scUM Offense. My guess? They will be average at best and struggle against good defenses. Look for another 4-5 loss season.

4. Braxton will have THE BEST OL in the B1G. Jury is out on Gardner's OL.

5. This is Braxton's 3rd full year. This is the best OSU Offense he will play with. He has developed significantly since he started back in 2011 and is now one of the best QB's in CFB. Gardner only has about 5-6 games under his belt. He is still under the learning curve and does not have a strong supporting cast to boot.

6. Braxton has significantly better wide receivers than Gardner has to throw to. They are faster, better and more veteran players than Gardner has at his disposal.

7. OSU has a better running game that will take the pressure off of Braxton. Gardner is in a similar position that Braxton was when he started in '11 only scUM does not have a good running game. AND his coach is fat.

7. scUM sucks. This is my most important and valid point. Other than the fact that Hoke is fat, of course.

Ok.. Maybe I just missed what "formula" we were using to determine what 14 points over five games means but according to the post andrew luck never quite made the list. (that name stood out to me SOOO much I had to check.)
In 2011-2012 He had 35 total TDs and only played 13 games. Maybe we are saying a TD is worth 6 points instead of 7 but that is still 210 total points. divide that by 13 games and he averaged over SIXTEEN points per game, OVER THE COURSE OF AN ENTIRE SEASON. Somehow this huckster thinks he never averaged over 14 for the course of 5 games? I am just gonna call shenanigans.

Or Geno Smith's first 5 games of last year. 4, 5, 3, 8 and 4 TDs no interceptions and threw for 300+ in 4 of those 5.

Those games can't hold a candle to the 234-2td-1int game against sub .500 Minnesota.

Stupid made up list is stupid and made up.

It's some stat called PAN which measure (I think) how many points better a QB is over an average player with the same offense against the same schedule. I'm not really sure, because I can't find a fucking description of PAN anywhere. I went to google and searched for "football analysis" then "football analytics" and even "football sabermetrics" before eventually finding something called "football outsiders" which has a shit load of advanced stats, but no PAN. "Football pan" was not an entirely fruitless search, as I did get some good tailgating ideas.

Hell, if it were just a strict 5 games / 14+ point average then there would literally be 50 QBs every year that do that.

Braxton Miller: Miami OH 3 TDs, UCF 4 TDs, Cal 5 TDs, UAB 2 TDs, Sparty 1 TD.
(3 + 4 + 5 + 2 + 1) * 6 = 90 / 5 = 18 ppg average

What that shitty article doesn't explain is what the formula is, where it originated, or the source for the research. Much like Penn Staters, these Michiganites don't feel the need to show their work. Hopefully if they discover the cure for cancer (like Penn St) they remember to write that shit down and tell other people about it. At least Instagram that shit or something.

The 2012 game is on BTN (again) right now. In case you've forgotten, rewatch Michigan's TD "drive" at the start of the 2nd Q.

Denard Robinson rushes for 6 yards, then Devin Gardner comes on and shot puts an incompletion to Reynolds with form that looks about like this:

After pass interference on Roy Roundtree is accepted Devin Gardner shot puts another incompletion to Dileo on 3rd down with form that looks about like this:

Philly muffs the punt from Hagerup:

Then Gardner comes back in to complete a 6 yard lob to Kwiatkowski.

Rawls rushes for nothing, Spence gets flagged for roughing Gardner, then Shoelace comes back on and carries the ball to the goal line. After another Rawls carry for about a half-yard, Gardner comes in to take a snap and lean forward about 6 inches for the TD.

Boom motherfuckers. Surgical just like Aaron Rodgers or Sam Bradford were back in college.
