Deveon Smith had 14 carries for 139 yards and three touchdowns to lead Howland to an undefeated season by defeating Chaney, 35-6, on Friday night.

Smith got Howland on the board just 30 seconds into the game with a 44 yard run.

Smith would score again at the halfway point in the first quarter on a 19 yard run. Receiver Dominic Termine's only reception on the night was a 29-yard pass from Tim Parana that would give the Tigers a 21-0 lead after one quarter.

Smith's final touchdown would be a 3 yard run with 6:11 left in the third. Parana would connect with Brandon Neilan for a 15 yard touchdown to make it 35-0 Howland after three quarters.

While the defense may be young, what really hurt the Dragons was Howland’s standout running back De’Veon Smith. The 6-foot, 213 pound junior pounded for 133 yards on just 10 carries while scoring three touchdowns.

“He’s a great football player, no doubt about it,” David said. “Our kids tackled him; it might have been seven, eight yards down the field, but it was encouraging for our kids on defense to show they can go toe to toe with a back like that.”

Behind a strong line, running back De'Veon Smith rushed for 203 yards on 17 carries.

"Klose played great," Angle said. "De'Veon running the ball is always fun to watch and I thought our offense line really controlled the line of scrimmage.

"They [the offensive line] along with the linebacker corps were our players of the game," Angle said.

By GH...his coach talks about how he has been a tremendous football player since the 8th grade...he and his coach talk about his game against Harding...his coach thinks he is built perfectly for RB, both physcially and mentally...has been to an OSU game this year and they are on his list with Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, USC and Wisconsin.

Went to the Kent-Howland game today, and all I can say is wow. This kid is an absolute beast. I'd say he's about 6'0" 205, with some pretty good speed. He breaks so many tackles it's sick. He almost never goes down on first contact. I mean this kid is a stud.

Tonight he had 26 carries for 242 yards and 3 TD's, with 152 yards in the first half. I really hope we make a big push for him.

Because numbers aren't a factor at all in talent evaluation (other than possibly to catch the eye to initiate the process in the first place) and the staff already made their early offers (one to a player that they evaluated in person and gave RB MVP to at camp over the summer as a not-quite junior) and the Buckeyes don't use the shotgun approach to recruiting.
