DeVeon "LLLL" Smith (traitor)

If you watch his film, you will see why. Posters from other sites said his film looks a lot like Trent Richardson's junior film. I compared them, and he is very similar to Richardson. He looks like a beast, imo. Breaks 2 to 3 tackles on most carries. He is extremely strong and if Marotti gets a hold of him, he could be Richardson good at the college level.

He has the tackle breaking ability and maybe the strength but not the speed or quickness yet.

This offer tells me that the whole "slot-dot" notion that OSU is no longer going to be a traditional power football team is a farce. Urban has gone after Dunn, kept Ball, is going after Green, and now you can add DeVeon to the list. All physical, imposing, and powerful runners.

He's going to get his speed guys as well, but he has never had this type of depth in terms of power backs at Florida. Gives him a new, dependable wrinkle to fit in to the offense.

If I could pick any running-back for next year, it would be Ty Isaac.

I may have isaac in a tie with green. With this kid 3rd. I wonder if he's getting looked at on defense maybe. But this kid slightly reminds me of Marcus lattimore

Isaac's a great looking back, but I'd be surprised if he would be used as a straight RB in Urban's offense. Pretty sure he'd be used in a "playmaker" WR/RB role (Ginn, Harvin, etc). Green and Smith fit as a true RB. Wouldn't be surprised if we would take Issac + Green or Smith, if Issac were to commit to us.

Its hard not to love the way DeVeon runs. He runs with reckless abandon and complete disregard for human life. Very Beanie-like. Prototype Buckeye RB. LOVE the offer.

(and with the way he runs the DAVE, gotta think he'll get an offer from Bollman at BC )

Anybody has junior stats on him? Carries, yards, TD's etc.

Alot of all. His coach did a better job this year of getting him out of the game early (mid to end third period) in blowout games. In tight games, he didn't think twice about giving him 30+ carries. His team doesn't throw that much, so his pass receiving and blocking skills are unknown.

He definitely passes the looks test. He's ripped, but I've always though that he didn't have the speed needed to be offered. If UM likes him, then that's good enough for me.

He's probably the top RB in the state next year. I think you'll see Urban offer the top players in the state regardless each year.

I'm mixed on DeVeon. Good kid, nice player. Not in love with his explosiveness. Seems like Brionte-light to me. Tough inside runner. Not as big as Dunn though. Competition level is poor, as Howland plays a bunch of nobodies for the most part during the regular season.

Also, was told to look for his stats to decline this coming season (not that that lessens his talent, just a forewarning not to judge by them). He will get a ton of carries, but a friend of mine said that "he'll to have snap it, hand-off, and block for himself" this season as Howland loses a ton on O including their entire OL I believe...
