Detroit Red Wings (Official Thread)

Oh well...they took Shitcago to 7 games and somehow lucked out against anaheim with a team with basically zero superstar talent (Dats and Z are on the downward side of their careers now).

Time to rebuild. And that means bye bye to Sammy, Cleary, Bert, Quincey, and Flip. time to let the kids come up.

They really fucked this series away...i know Chicago was the No. 1 seed and all but come on had them down 3-1.

For the little I know about hockey it seems they need some defensemen that know how to clear the zone and help their goalie out.

Well in the last 4 years they have lost:

Lidstrom (HOF)
Rafalski (HOF)
Stuart (Top 4 on any team)
Lilja (he sucked, but he wasn't this bad)
Chelios (downside of his career, but he at least knew what hockey was)

And honestly, they still haven't replaced Jiri Fischer. Ericcson is ok, I guess, but Fischer and Kronwall were going to be the ones taking over for Lidstrom and Rafalski eventually. The only one left is Kronwall, and he isn't that great.

Losing a 3-1 series lead has sucked, but I can't say it was entirely surprising given this team's lack of killer instinct and scoring power. It was only a matter of time until the defensive depth problems came back to bite them in the ass.
