Wrist injury to sideline Pavel Datsyuk

DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings star center Pavel Datsyuk is expected to miss at least four weeks because of a broken bone in his right wrist.

Datsyuk left Detroit's 5-4 overtime win against the Canucks late in the first period Wednesday night after tripping over Vancouver's Mikael Samuelsson and landing on his right hand. Samuelsson and Datsyuk used to be teammates with the Red Wings.

Datsyuk has 12 goals and 39 points in 33 games this season.

FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wings are deep, but this HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm actually ok with this. The team won't fall out of the playoffs (they won't be the 1 seed either) and he clearly hit the wall last year against San Jose.

Besides this might be the thing that gets Hudler going a bit more. Some other guys (Franzen and Filipula especially) will have to step it up now just like they would in the playoffs. This will probably give us a good indication whether or not Holland will need to make a trade too.

The past 24 hours or so for my favorite teams hasn't exactly been the greatest....at least the Basketball Buckeyes won though....

I'm thinking they may go for a shot-blocking type defenseman (i.e. Lilja-type player). This team doesn't give much of a damn on its defensive end right at the moment.

Well lets rest up for the playoffs i guess

Just be damned glad they played very well for October and the vast majority of November and early December....

Cleary is another guy who hit the wall last year. I wish (I hope) the defensive corps stays relatively healthy, because Lidstrom is still the key to this team.

Flyers win in Detroit for first time in 22 years

DETROIT -- The Philadelphia Flyers were just trying to win -- not break their long losing streak in Detroit.

James van Riemsdyk, Daniel Carcillo and Scott Hartnell scored to help Philadelphia win for the first time in Detroit in more than 22 years, 3-2 over the Red Wings on Sunday.

Philadelphia was 0-14-2 at Joe Louis Arena since Nov. 4, 1988.

"I don't think it was in our mind to get the win for that reason," said Brian Boucher, who made 25 saves. "We haven't been playing well the last four games and we wanted to get a big win."

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said he didn't mention the winless streak in Detroit before the game.

Injuries or not, color me worried about their defense and what this team is going to look like going into the playoffs.

That said, the kids in the minors are going to get some serious playing time in the next couple weeks, and that's a GREAT thing to see in my IMO
