Detroit Red Wings (Official Thread)

this fucking team pisses me off....

they were up a goal, in the 3rd period which has been the money period for them this entire 18 year run and immediately give up 2 goals.

Now they are in 9th place in the west and they could have been as high as 7th after a win tonight. This team can't handle success or something. And yes they brought their euro-trash game to the rink tonight because except for about a 10 minute stretch in the 2nd period they didn't do a goddamn thing in front of the net. Everything was from an odd angle and from along the boards. :shake:

Yeah sure, after that garbage effort against Edmonton, sure, they are a playoff team :shake:

Now they have officially pissed me off too.

I had the over tonight and those gutless fruits couldn't score 3-4 goals against Edmonton? They just made the list.

:wink2: Sorry bro, I know it sucks for you a lot worse.

It's ok - this team can't handle prosperity anyway. They had a chance to remain up a point with a game in hand so at least losing in the shootout didn't kill them.

but dammit, teams like Edmonton and honestly Columbus are going to end up killing this team because they play down to their competition instead of beating the teams they should beat and losing to the more elite teams like Pittspuke and Chicago, etc.

In short, always take the under if they are playing a crappy team. If they are playing an "elite" team that scores a lot and doesn't exactly play New Jersey Devil type defense, take the over then

The real kick in the nuts was Edmonton scored 2 goals in the first 5 minutes then that game is the only one of the night in the NHL that didn't go over!

:slappy:

You just can't make this shit up. The NHL, where plain fucking crazy happens.

you bet on the nhl regular season? really...

mike it has nothing to do with handling "prosperity" it has to do with the age. i told you last year, last march lidstrom looked human. at 39, with raflaski 35, bert at 34, homer 36, draper 38, then toss all the 30 year old guys... the team is closer to collecting social security than having the jump needed...

Except that them being tired or Lidstrom being "human" wasn't really the issue last night.

Last night they looked content to show up and the game would win itself. They had 3 days off before this game. I really don't think fatigue was a factor. They weren't prepared to work hard for 60 minutes and Edmonton was.

Besides, without Rafalski and Draper I don't think they even score last night. Those two were all over the place as where lidstrom and Datsyuk. The Wings, for whatever reason, have these weird stretches where they don't play in the middle of the ice.

The guys that are killing them this year are Stuart, Ericcson and Filipula for the most part and some of Zetterberg in there too. Bad turnovers, defensive lapses and just not being crisp night in and night out. Holmstrom has been carrying this team from time to time since the olympic break.

youre telling me a bunch of euro pansies were hanging out along the walls? no way...

one of the things has been an increased rule for those guys. lesser ice time, etc.

Actually the biggest offenders here have been Canadians like Bert. I don't think he's taken more than 10 shots since the Olympic break. He keeps getting pushed off into the corners. Sure Filipula hasn't seen the front of the net in a while either, but Holmstrom, Datsyuk and Cleary have been making a living there lately. Last night the Wings weren't even getting the puck to those guys near the front of the net.

lidstrom played 27 minutes last night. Rafalski played 28 and Kronwall played 24 and was a -2 on the game.

Stuart also found a way to be a -2 and was on the ice for 22 minutes. Ericcson found a way to be even somehow, but only played 13 minutes. Teams aren't taking advantage of the older, more "human" lidstrom and the players and those players are still playing nearly 30 minutes a night. They are feasting on the young and inconsistent guys.

in fact there is speculation on the Wings board that Ericcson is going to be a forward next year anyway. If they keep Lebda or if they sign another servicable d-man, they'll move ericcson up into a forward role much like what Cleary is playing now.
