Detroit Lions (official thread)

Not going to lie. I love this new management crew at the Lions.
While everyone was bitching about value in this draft the Lions finished first when you look at pure data and analytics. They are getting players over and over that will be solid citizens and will for sure contribute. Maybe not sexy but this is how winning is done.

I personally think the Lions murdered it in the draft more than any other team and the Ibrahim UDFA pickup was great. Lions are going to be much better than people expect next year.

I think a lot of the "experts" chided the Lions draft due to the early rounds, and possibly getting players a little earlier than they were predicted. But tbh, if they liked the players when their selection came around, then that's who they wanted to strengthen their team. The Gibbs pick was the biggest head scratcher, to go with letting Swift go for next to nothing. But their 2nd and 3rd round picks were perfect for them. And getting Campbell was a bit too high also, IMO, as he reminds me of Spielman, but how good would Spielman be in the modern era where you also have to be able to cover in space and not tee off on a RB for 90% of the game?

I'm guessing they had talked to swift this off-season and either weren't willing to resign him after his injuries for next season or he was asking for too much. That or they just wanted the Salary reset.
